Proceedings ArticleDOI

Influence of uplink limitation and broadcast traffic on power efficiency in long-reach optical networks

TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of uplink capacity limitation and the amount of broadcast downstream traffic on power efficiency was evaluated for different optical access technologies with respect to their power efficiency. And the authors concluded that passive optical networks provide the best power efficiency in terms of energy efficiency.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Life cycle based analysis of ICT equipment for advanced metering infrastructure

TL;DR: This correspondence provides insights into the sustainability of the additional information and communication technology (ICT) equipment required for the deployment of the advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), which will be the essential part of future smart grids.
Journal ArticleDOI

Scalability Analysis of Optical Intrasystem Interconnects

TL;DR: Various point-to-point interconnects and two optically switched interconnection options were studied with regard to their scalability by considering various impairments on optical signal, required number of fiber links and power consumption.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Demonstration of a coexistence scheme between polarization-entangled QKD and classical data channels

TL;DR: In this article, the feasibility of transmitting entangled photons and strong classical communication signals over the same fiber was demonstrated, and it was shown that generating entangled photons in the O-band might allow the coexistence of classical and quantum signals.
