Journal ArticleDOI
Dopamine receptors – IUPHAR Review 13
TL;DR: An update of the current knowledge regarding the complex biology, signalling, physiology and pharmacology of dopamine receptors is provided.
Journal ArticleDOI
Functional Interaction between Trace Amine-Associated Receptor 1 and Dopamine D2 Receptor
Stefano Espinoza,Ali Salahpour,Bernard Masri,Tatyana D. Sotnikova,Mirko Messa,Larry S. Barak,Marc G. Caron,Raul R. Gainetdinov +7 more
TL;DR: The biochemical mechanism of interaction between TAAR1 and D2R and the role this interaction plays in D1R-related signaling and behaviors are investigated and functional and physical interactions that could be critical for the modulation of the dopaminergic system byTAAR1 in vivo are investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pronounced Hyperactivity, Cognitive Dysfunctions, and BDNF Dysregulation in Dopamine Transporter Knock-out Rats.
Damiana Leo,I. Sukhanov,I. Sukhanov,Francesca Zoratto,Placido Illiano,Lucia Caffino,Fabrizio Sanna,Giulia Messa,Marco Emanuele,Alessandro Esposito,Mariia Dorofeikova,Evgeny A. Budygin,Liudmila Mus,Liudmila Mus,Evgeniya V. Efimova,Marco Niello,Stefano Espinoza,Tatyana D. Sotnikova,Marius C. Hoener,Giovanni Laviola,Fabio Fumagalli,Walter Adriani,Raul R. Gainetdinov +22 more
TL;DR: DAT-KO rats could provide a novel translational model for human diseases involving aberrant dopamine functions and demonstrate cognitive deficits in working memory and sensorimotor gating tests, less propensity to develop compulsive behaviors, and strong dysregulation in frontostriatal BDNF function.
Journal ArticleDOI
Taar1-mediated modulation of presynaptic dopaminergic neurotransmission: role of D2 dopamine autoreceptors
Damiana Leo,Liudmila Mus,Stefano Espinoza,Marius C. Hoener,Tatiana D. Sotnikova,Raul R. Gainetdinov,Raul R. Gainetdinov,Raul R. Gainetdinov +7 more
TL;DR: The short-term plasticity of DA release following paired pulses was decreased in TAAR1-KO, indicating less autoinhibition of D2 autoreceptors, which could suggest a close interaction between TAar1 and the D 2 autoreceptor regulation.
Journal ArticleDOI
BRET biosensors to study GPCR biology, pharmacology, and signal transduction
Ali Salahpour,Stefano Espinoza,Bernard Masri,Vincent M. Lam,Larry S. Barak,Raul R. Gainetdinov +5 more
TL;DR: This review discusses in detail the application of BRET to study dopamine and trace amine receptors signaling, presenting examples of an exchange protein activated by cAMP biosensor to measure cAMP, β-arrestin biosensors to determine β-Arrestin recruitment to the receptor, and dopamine D2 receptor and Trace amine-associated receptor 1 biosensor to investigate heterodimerization between them.
