Stereoselectivity in radical reactions of 2′-deoxynucleosides. A synthesis of an isostere of 3′-azido-3′-deoxythymidine-5′-monophosphate (AZT-5′ monophosphate)
TL;DR: The bulky t-butyldiphenylsilyl group, attached to the 3′-hydroxyl of the uronic acid from thymidine, permits a stereoselective formation of a carbon-carbon bond using the 4′ carbon radical, which leads to an isostere of 3-azido-3′-deoxythymidine-5′-monophosphate.

Journal ArticleDOI
A practical decarboxylative hydroxylation of carboxylic acids
Derek H. R. Barton,Stephan D. Gero,Pascale Holliday,Béatrice Quiclet-Sire,Samir Z. Zard,Samir Z. Zard +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors showed that irradiation of esters of N-hydroxy-2-thiazolinethione under air or oxygen at room temperature in the presence of tert-dodecanethiol affords the corresponding nor-alcohols after a reductive work-up.
