Journal ArticleDOI
Major depressive disorder with subthreshold bipolarity in the National Comorbidity Survey Replication.
Jules Angst,Lihong Cui,Joel Swendsen,Stéphane Rothen,Anibal Cravchik,Ronald C. Kessler,Kathleen R. Merikangas +6 more
TL;DR: Findings demonstrate heterogeneity in major depressive disorder and support the validity of inclusion of subthreshold mania in the diagnostic classification and the broadening of criteria for bipolar disorder.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genome-wide association study of recurrent major depressive disorder in two European case–control cohorts
Pierandrea Muglia,Federica Tozzi,Nicholas Galwey,Clyde Francks,Clyde Francks,Ruchi Upmanyu,Xiangyang Kong,Athos Antoniades,Athos Antoniades,Enrico Domenici,Julia Perry,Stéphane Rothen,Stéphane Rothen,Caroline L. Vandeleur,Vincent Mooser,Gérard Waeber,Peter Vollenweider,Martin Preisig,Susanne Lucae,Bertram Müller-Myhsok,Florian Holsboer,Lefkos T. Middleton,Lefkos T. Middleton,A. D. Roses,A. D. Roses +24 more
TL;DR: The results from this study suggest that SNPs with substantial odds ratio are unlikely to exist for MDD, at least in the authors' datasets and among the relatively common SNPs genotyped or tagged by the half-million-loci arrays.
Journal ArticleDOI
The PsyCoLaus study: methodology and characteristics of the sample of a population-based survey on psychiatric disorders and their association with genetic and cardiovascular risk factors
Martin Preisig,Gérard Waeber,Peter Vollenweider,Pascal Bovet,Stéphane Rothen,Caroline L. Vandeleur,Patrice Guex,Lefkos T. Middleton,Dawn M. Waterworth,Vincent Mooser,Federica Tozzi,Pierandrea Muglia +11 more
TL;DR: Despite limitations resulting from the relatively low participation, the PsyCoLaus study should significantly contribute to the current understanding of psychiatric disorders and comorbid somatic conditions by establishing the clinical relevance of specific psychiatric syndromes below the DSM-IV threshold.
Journal ArticleDOI
Does Self-Selection Affect Samples’ Representativeness in Online Surveys? An Investigation in Online Video Game Research
Yasser Khazaal,Mathias Van Singer,Anne Chatton,Sophia Achab,Daniele Fabio Zullino,Stéphane Rothen,Riaz Khan,Joël Billieux,Gabriel Thorens +8 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that more proficient players or players more involved in the game may be more likely to participate in online surveys, and caution is needed in the interpretation of studies based on online surveys that used a self-selection recruitment procedure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Determinants of the development of post-traumatic stress disorder, in the general population
Marc Perrin,Caroline L. Vandeleur,Enrique Castelao,Stéphane Rothen,Jennifer Glaus,Peter Vollenweider,Martin Preisig +6 more
TL;DR: The risk for the development of PTSD after exposure to traumatic events is associated with several factors including the type of exposure, preexisting psychopathology, personality features and coping strategies which independently contribute to the vulnerability to PTSD.
