Journal ArticleDOI
Wheat streak mosaic virus: a century old virus with rising importance worldwide.
TL;DR: Mitigation of losses caused by wheat streak mosaic virus will require enhanced knowledge of the biology of WCM biotypes and WSMV, new or improved virus detection techniques, the development of resistance through traditional and molecular breeding, and the adaptation of cultural management tactics to account for climate change.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quantification of Yield Loss Caused by Triticum mosaic virus and Wheat streak mosaic virus in Winter Wheat Under Field Conditions
E. Byamukama,Stephen N. Wegulo,Satyanarayana Tatineni,Gary L. Hein,Robert A. Graybosch,P. S. Baenziger,Roy French +6 more
TL;DR: Under field conditions, (i) Mace, a WSMV-resistant cultivar, is also resistant to TriMV, and (ii) double inoculation of winter Wheat streak mosaic virus exacerbates symptom expression and yield loss in a susceptible cultivar.
Journal ArticleDOI
Registration of ‘NE01643’ Wheat
P. S. Baenziger,Brian S. Beecher,R. A. Graybosch,Amir M. H. Ibrahim,David D. Baltensperger,L. A. Nelson,Yue Jin,Stephen N. Wegulo,John E. Watkins,J. H. Hatchett,Ming-Shun Chen,Guihua Bai +11 more
TL;DR: The legal name for this cultivar, NE01643, will be marketed under the name Husker Genetics Brand Overland in honor of the pioneers who crossed and stayed in the northern prairies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Validation of QTL for Grain Yield-Related Traits on Wheat Chromosome 3A Using Recombinant Inbred Chromosome Lines
Mengistu Neway Challa,Mengistu Neway Challa,P. S. Baenziger,Kent M. Eskridge,Ismail Dweikat,Stephen N. Wegulo,Kulvinder S. Gill,Abdul Mujeeb-Kazi,Abdul Mujeeb-Kazi +8 more
TL;DR: Most of the GYLD and yield-related QTL reported in previous RICLs3A mapping studies on chromosome 3A of winter wheat evaluated in Nebraska weremed, with the exception of the major grain yield QTL, detected in the combined analysis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of Single and Double Infections of Winter Wheat by Triticum mosaic virus and Wheat streak mosaic virus on Yield Determinants.
E. Byamukama,Satyanarayana Tatineni,Gary L. Hein,R. A. Graybosch,P. S. Baenziger,R. French,Stephen N. Wegulo +6 more
TL;DR: The results from this study indicate that Mace, a WSMV-resistant cultivar, is also resistant to TriMV, and double infection of winter wheat byTriMV and W SMV exacerbates symptom expression and loss of biomass in susceptible cultivars.
