Surgical staging in endometrial cancer: clinical-pathologic findings of a prospective study.
Richard C. Boronow,C.P. Morrow,William T. Creasman,Philip J. DiSaia,Steven G. Silverberg,Alexander W. Miller,John A. Blessing +6 more
TL;DR: A negligible risk for lymph node metastasis exists if: cancer is confined to the endometrium irrespective of grade, invasion is superficial for grades 1 and 2 tumor, the intermediate third of the myometrium is invaded for grade 1 tumor only, and occult disease is not present in the cervix and/or adnexa.
Journal ArticleDOI
Carcinosarcoma (Malignant Mixed Mesodermal Tumor) of the Uterus: A Gynecologic Oncology Group Pathologic Study of 203 Cases
Steven G. Silverberg,Francis J. Major,John A. Blessing,Bernard F. Fetter,Frederic B. Askin,Shu Yuan Liao,Alexander W. Miller +6 more
TL;DR: High-grade, serous, and clear cell carcinomatous components were associated with a higher frequency of metastases, as were deep myometrial invasion, lymphatic or vascular space invasion, and involvement of the isthmus or cervix.
Journal ArticleDOI
Histopathologic grading of ovarian carcinoma: a review and proposal.
TL;DR: When grading is compared with histopathologic typing of ovarian carcinoma, the latter is less valuable in predicting survival but better at predicting tumor responsiveness to chemotherapy, and can also suggest the chemotherapeutic agents to be used.
Journal ArticleDOI
A randomized clinical trial of adjuvant adriamycin in uterine sarcomas: a Gynecologic Oncology Group Study.
George A. Omura,John A. Blessing,Frank Major,Samuel Lifshitz,Clarence E. Ehrlich,Charles E. Mangan,J. Beecham,Robert C. Park,Steven G. Silverberg +8 more
TL;DR: The outcome with respect to chemotherapy was not altered even after adjusting for maldistribution of cases, and a benefit for this dose schedule of Adriamycin as adjuvant treatment for uterine sarcomas could not be shown.
Journal ArticleDOI
Endometrial morphology during long-term use of levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine devices.
TL;DR: Intrauterine release of Levonorgestrel resulted in endo-metrial glandular atrophy and decidualized stroma and inflammation and necrosis were seen as local signs of IUD use.
