Bisquinolines. 2. Antimalarial N,N-Bis(7-chloroquinolin-4- yl)heteroalkanediamines

TL;DR: N,N-Bis(7-chloroquinolin-4-yl)heteroalkanediamines 1-11 were synthesized and screened against Plasmodium falciparum in vitro and PlasModium berghei in vivo and none of these heteroalkane-bridged bisquinolines had sufficient antimalarial activity to warrant further investigation of the series.

Activity of Azithromycin as a Blood Schizonticide against Rodent and Human Plasmodia In Vivo

TL;DR: The data suggest that it may be possible to replace drugs of the tetracycline class with azithromycin in combination with fast-acting blood schizonticides for the treatment of P. falciparum infection.
