Journal ArticleDOI
New Visible-Light Photoinitiating System for Improved Print Fidelity in Gelatin-Based Bioinks
Khoon S. Lim,Benjamin S. Schon,Naveen Vijayan Mekhileri,Gabriella C. J. Brown,Catherine M. Chia,Sujay Prabakar,Sujay Prabakar,Gary J. Hooper,Tim B. F. Woodfield,Tim B. F. Woodfield +9 more
TL;DR: A new visible-light initiating system, Vis + ruthenium (Ru)/sodium persulfate (SPS) to more conventionally adopted ultraviolet (UV) + Irgacure 2959 system is compared, which yielded better cell cyto-compatibility and the potential of this system to biofabricate cell-laden constructs with high shape fidelity, cell viability, and metabolic activity is highlighted.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chemical Reactions on Surface Molecules Attached to Silicon Quantum Dots
Amane Shiohara,Sanshiro Hanada,Sujay Prabakar,Kohki Fujioka,Teck H. Lim,Kenji Yamamoto,Peter T. Northcote,Richard D. Tilley +7 more
TL;DR: Cytotoxicity and cell viability assay conducted on silicon dots capped with polar molecules indicated low toxicity with quantum dots with more reactive functionalities found to be more toxic.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sized controlled synthesis, purification, and cell studies with silicon quantum dots
Amane Shiohara,Sujay Prabakar,Angelique Faramus,Chia Yen Hsu,Ping Shan Lai,Peter T. Northcote,Richard D. Tilley +6 more
TL;DR: The size control synthesis of silicon quantum dots with simple microemulsion techniques showed that the amine terminated silicon nanocrystals accumulated in lysosome but not in nuclei and could be used as bio-markers to monitor cancer cells over long timescales.
Journal ArticleDOI
Size Controlled Synthesis of Germanium Nanocrystals by Hydride Reducing Agents and Their Biological Applications
Sujay Prabakar,Amane Shiohara,Sanshiro Hanada,Kouki Fujioka,Kenji Yamamoto,Richard D. Tilley +5 more
TL;DR: Germanium nanocrystals were synthesized by the hydride reduction of germanium tetrachloride (GeCl4) in inverse micelles.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hot-injection synthesis of iron/iron oxide core/shell nanoparticles for T2 contrast enhancement in magnetic resonance imaging
David A. J. Herman,Peter M. Ferguson,Soshan Cheong,Soshan Cheong,Ian F. Hermans,Ben J. Ruck,Kathryn M. Allan,Sujay Prabakar,John L. Spencer,Conrad D. Lendrum,Richard D. Tilley +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, a bench-top synthesis for iron/iron oxide core/shell nanoparticles via the thermal decomposition of Fe(η5-C6H3Me4)2 was reported.
