John Antoniadis,Paulo C. C. Freire,Norbert Wex,Thomas M. Tauris,Ryan S. Lynch,Marten H. van Kerkwijk,Michael Kramer,Michael Kramer,C. G. Bassa,V. S. Dhillon,T. Driebe,Jason W. T. Hessels,Jason W. T. Hessels,Victoria M. Kaspi,V. I. Kondratiev,V. I. Kondratiev,Norbert Langer,Tom Marsh,Maura McLaughlin,Timothy T. Pennucci,Scott M. Ransom,Ingrid H. Stairs,Joeri van Leeuwen,Joeri van Leeuwen,Joris P. W. Verbiest,David G. Whelan +25 more
TL;DR: Pulsar J0348+0432 is only the second neutron star with a precisely determined mass of 2 M☉
Journal ArticleDOI
Tracing the young massive high-eccentricity binary system Theta 1 Orionis C through periastron passage
Stefan Kraus,Gerd Weigelt,Y. Y. Balega,José A. Docobo,Karl-Heinz Hofmann,Th. Preibisch,Dieter Schertl,Vakhtang S. Tamazian,T. Driebe,K. Ohnaka,R. G. Petrov,Markus Schoeller,Michael D. Smith +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors derived a short-period (P=11.3 yrs) and high-eccentricity orbit (e=0.6) with periastron passage around 2002.
Journal ArticleDOI
Imaging the dynamical atmosphere of the red supergiant Betelgeuse in the CO first overtone lines with VLTI/AMBER ,
Keiichi Ohnaka,Gerd Weigelt,Florentin Millour,Karl-Heinz Hofmann,T. Driebe,T. Driebe,Dieter Schertl,Alain Chelli,F. Massi,Romain Petrov,Ph. Stee +10 more
TL;DR: One-dimensional projection images of the red supergiant Betelgeuse (α ǫOri) with VLTI/AMBER were obtained in this paper, showing that the star appears differently in the blue wing, line center and red wing of the individual CO lines.
Journal ArticleDOI
Imaging the dynamical atmosphere of the red supergiant Betelgeuse in the CO first overtone lines with VLTI/AMBER
K. Ohnaka,Gerd Weigelt,Florentin Millour,Karl-Heinz Hofmann,T. Driebe,Dieter Schertl,A. Chelli. F. Massi,Romain Petrov,Ph. Stee +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented the first 1D aperture synthesis imaging of the red supergiant Betelgeuse in the individual CO first overtone lines with VLTI/AMBER.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Mira variable S Ori: Relationships between the photosphere, molecular layer, dust shell, and SiO maser shell at 4 epochs
TL;DR: In this article, a multi-epoch study that includes concurrent mid-infrared and radio interferometry of an oxygen-rich Mira star is presented, where the results suggest increased mass loss and dust formation close to the surface near the minimum visual phase, when Al2O3 dust grains are co-located with the molecular gas and the SiO maser shells.
