Journal ArticleDOI

Relation between viruses from acute gastroenteritis of children and newborn calves.

TL;DR: The reovirus-like particles present in faeces of young children with acute gastroenteritis and the virus causing acute diarrhœa in newborn calves were found to be indistinguishable from each other in size and shape.
Journal ArticleDOI

Epidemic viral enteritis in a long-stay children's ward.

TL;DR: Two outbreaks of acute gastroenteritis occurred in 1974 in a long-stay children's ward and electron microscopy demonstrated rotaviruses in faeces from the affected children in the first outbreak, and adenovirus-associated diarrhoea lasted only 2-4 days and was not associated with vomiting.
Journal ArticleDOI

Clinical efficacy of the RIT 4237 live attenuated bovine rotavirus vaccine in infants vaccinated before a rotavirus epidemic.

TL;DR: It is concluded that epidemic infantile winter diarrhea associated with human rotaviruses can be significantly reduced by vaccination with the live attenuated RIT 4237 bovine rotavirus vaccine before the epidemic season.
Journal ArticleDOI

Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays based on polyclonal and monoclonal antibodies for rotavirus detection.

TL;DR: Two enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays for rotavirus antigen in feces are described, designed to be as sensitive and specific as possible, and easy to use anywhere, and found to be more sensitive than electron microscopy for detecting virus.
