Journal ArticleDOI
Oxidative Stress and Inflammation: What Polyphenols Can Do for Us?
TL;DR: This review aims at exploring the properties of polyphenols in anti-inflammation and oxidation and the mechanisms ofpolyphenols inhibiting molecular signaling pathways which are activated by oxidative stress, as well as the possible roles of poly phenols in inflammation-mediated chronic disorders.
Journal ArticleDOI
Melatonin alleviates weanling stress in mice: Involvement of intestinal microbiota.
Wenkai Ren,Peng Wang,Jiameng Yan,Gang Liu,Benhua Zeng,Tarique Hussain,Can Peng,Jie Yin,Tiejun Li,Hong Wei,Guoqiang Zhu,Russel J. Reiter,Bie Tan,Yulong Yin +13 more
TL;DR: It is shown that melatonin affects body weight gain, intestinal morphology, and intestinal ETEC infection through intestinal microbiota in weanling mice, and the importance of intestine microbiota in mediating the various physiological functions of melatonin in the host is highlighted.
Journal ArticleDOI
Flavonoids and type 2 diabetes: Evidence of efficacy in clinical and animal studies and delivery strategies to enhance their therapeutic efficacy.
Tarique Hussain,Bie Tan,Bie Tan,Ghulam Murtaza,Gang Liu,Najma Rahu,Muhammad Saleem Kalhoro,Dildar Hussain Kalhoro,Tolulope Adebowale,Muhammad Usman Mazhar,Zia Ur Rehman,Yordan Martínez,Shahzad Akber Khan,Yulong Yin +13 more
TL;DR: Light is shed on the anti-diabetic potential of flavonoids, contribution of oxidative stress, evidence of efficacy in clinical, cellular and animal studies and nano-delivery approaches to enhance their therapeutic efficacy against T2DM.
Journal ArticleDOI
Health-promoting properties of eucommia ulmoides: A review
Tarique Hussain,Bie Tan,Gang Liu,Oso Abimbola Oladele,Najma Rahu,Myrlene Carine B. Tossou,Yulong Yin +6 more
TL;DR: This review paper summarizes the various active ingredients contained in EU and their health-promoting properties, thus serving as a reference material for the application of EU.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Evaluation of Antioxidant and Anti-Inflammatory Effects of Eucommia ulmoides Flavones Using Diquat-Challenged Piglet Models.
TL;DR: Results indicated that EUF attenuated the inflammation and oxidative stress of piglets caused by diquat injection and improved the growth performance of diquAt-treated piglets from day 14 to 21.
