The ESO UVES advanced data products quasar sample: II. Cosmological evolution of the neutral gas mass density
Tayyaba Zafar,Celine Peroux,Attila Popping,B. Milliard,J. M. Deharveng,Stephan Frank,Stephan Frank +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented the results of a search for DLAs and sub-DLAs in the European Southern Observatory (ESO) Ultraviolet Visual Echelle Spectrograph (UVES) advanced data products dataset of 250 quasars.
Journal ArticleDOI
The extinction curves of star-forming regions from z = 0.1 to 6.7 using GRB afterglow spectroscopy
Tayyaba Zafar,Darach Watson,Johan P. U. Fynbo,D. Malesani,Pall Jakobsson,A. de Ugarte Postigo +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present results from the SED analysis of a sample of 41 GRB afterglows, from X-ray to NIR wavelengths, from VLT-FORS, with additional data primarily from Swift, which is the largest sample of extinction curves outside the Local Group and, to date, the only extragalactic sample of absolute extinction curves based on spectroscopy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Galaxy Counterparts of metal-rich Damped Lyman-alpha Absorbers - I: The case of the z=2.35 DLA towards Q2222-0946

TL;DR: In this article, a survey using the newly commissioned X-shooter spectrograph to target candidate relatively metal-rich damped Lyman-alpha absorbers (DLAs) was conducted and the discovery of the galaxy counterpart of the z_abs = 2.354 DLA towards the z=2.926 quasar Q2222$-0946.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: In this article, the galaxy counterpart of the DLA is detected in the OIII 5007 and OII 3726,3729 emission lines redshifted into the NIR at an impact parameter of 16 kpc.
Journal ArticleDOI
Verifying the mass–metallicity relation in damped Lyman α selected galaxies at 0.1 < z < 3.2
TL;DR: In this article, the stellar masses of 12 galaxies in confirmed DLA absorber - galaxy pairs in the redshift range 0.1
