Journal ArticleDOI
The role of agricultural use of insecticides in resistance to pyrethroids in Anopheles gambiae s.l. in Burkina Faso.
Abdoulaye Diabaté,Thierry Baldet,Fabrice Chandre,Martin Akoobeto,T Robert Guiguemde,Frédéric Darriet,Cécile Brengues,Pierre Guillet,Janet Hemingway,Graham J. Small,Jean Marc Hougard +10 more
TL;DR: Pyrethroid resistance in west African An.
Journal ArticleDOI
Decreased motivation in the use of insecticide-treated nets in a malaria endemic area in Burkina Faso
Léa Paré Toé,Ole Skovmand,Kounbobr Roch Dabiré,Abdoulaye Diabaté,Yveline Diallo,Tinga Robert Guiguemdé,Julien Marie C. Doannio,Martin Akogbeto,Thierry Baldet,Marc-Éric Gruénais +9 more
TL;DR: The motivation for the use of bednets decreased after less than a year, and concerted efforts are required to change behaviour by providing accurate information, most particularly by convincing people that mosquitoes are the only source of malaria, whilst recognising that there are other diseases with similar symptoms, caused in other ways.
Journal ArticleDOI
The 2006 outbreak of bluetongue in northern Europe--The entomological perspective
R. Meiswinkel,Thierry Baldet,R. De Deken,Willem Takken,Jean Claude Delecolle,Philip S. Mellor +5 more
TL;DR: After bluetongue (BT) appeared in northern Europe in August 2006 entomological studies were implemented in all five affected Member States to establish which species of Culicoides had acted as vectors, highlighting the need for morphological and molecular techniques to become more fully integrated to ensure progress in the accurate identification of vector Culicoide.
Journal ArticleDOI
The spread of the Leu-Phe kdr mutation through Anopheles gambiae complex in Burkina Faso: genetic introgression and de novo phenomena
Abdoulaye Diabaté,Cécile Brengues,Thierry Baldet,Kounbobr Roch Dabiré,Jean-Marc Hougard,Martin Akogbeto,Pierre Kengne,Frédéric Simard,Pierre Guillet,Janet Hemingway,Fabrice Chandre +10 more
TL;DR: During extensive sampling in Burkina Faso and other African countries, the Leu‐Phe mutation producing the kdr pyrethroid resistance phenotype was reported in both Anopheles gambiae ss and A. arabiensis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Multiple Insecticide Resistance in Anopheles gambiae s.l. Populations from Burkina Faso, West Africa
Moussa Namountougou,Frédéric Simard,Thierry Baldet,Thierry Baldet,Abdoulaye Diabaté,Jean-Bosco Ouédraogo,Thibaud Martin,Thibaud Martin,Roch K. Dabiré +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed an update on the phenotypic diversity of insecticide resistance in An. gambiae populations sampled from 10 sites in Burkina Faso in 2010.
