Nuh N. Rahbari,O. James Garden,Robert Padbury,Mark Brooke-Smith,Michael Crawford,René Adam,Moritz Koch,Masatoshi Makuuchi,Ronald P. DeMatteo,Christopher Christophi,Simon W. Banting,Val Usatoff,Masato Nagino,Guy J. Maddern,Thomas J. Hugh,Jean Nicolas Vauthey,Paul D. Greig,Myrddin Rees,Yukihiro Yokoyama,Sheung Tat Fan,Yuji Nimura,Joan Figueras,Lorenzo Capussotti,Markus W. Büchler,Jürgen Weitz +24 more
TL;DR: A definition and grading of severity of posthepatectomy liver failure is proposed, which can be used in future studies to allow objective and accurate comparisons of operative interventions in the field of hepatic surgery.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bile leakage after hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery: a definition and grading of severity by the International Study Group of Liver Surgery.
Moritz Koch,O. James Garden,Robert Padbury,Nuh N. Rahbari,René Adam,Lorenzo Capussotti,Sheung Tat Fan,Yukihiro Yokoyama,Michael Crawford,Masatoshi Makuuchi,Christopher Christophi,Simon W. Banting,Mark Brooke-Smith,Val Usatoff,Masato Nagino,Guy J. Maddern,Thomas J. Hugh,Jean Nicolas Vauthey,Paul D. Greig,Myrddin Rees,Yuji Nimura,Joan Figueras,Ronald P. DeMatteo,Markus W. Büchler,Jürgen Weitz +24 more
TL;DR: A uniform definition and severity grading of bile leakage is proposed to enable a standardized comparison of the results of different clinical trials and may facilitate an objective evaluation of diagnostic and therapeutic modalities in the field of hepatobiliary and pancreatic operative therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Post-hepatectomy haemorrhage: a definition and grading by the International Study Group of Liver Surgery (ISGLS)
Nuh N. Rahbari,O. James Garden,Robert Padbury,Guy J. Maddern,Moritz Koch,Thomas J. Hugh,Sheung Tat Fan,Yuji Nimura,Joan Figueras,Jean Nicolas Vauthey,Myrddin Rees,René Adam,Ronald P. DeMatteo,Paul D. Büchler,Jürgen Weitz +24 more
TL;DR: The proposed definition and grading of severity of PHH enables valid comparisons of results from different studies and should be applied in future trials to standardize reporting of complications.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pyogenic liver abscess: an audit of 10 years' experience.
TL;DR: Serum hypoalbuminaemia on presentation was found to be the only factor related to failure of initial percutaneous therapy on univariate analysis and allows resolution of most PLAs; However, a small proportion of patients still require surgical drainage.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cadherin-catenin expression in primary colorectal cancer: a survival analysis.
Thomas J. Hugh,Stephanie Dillon,B. A. Taylor,Massimo Pignatelli,Graeme J. Poston,Anne R Kinsella +5 more
TL;DR: Immunohistochemical analysis of the expression of components of the cadherin–catenin complex in colorectal cancers from 60 patients revealed that advanced Dukes’ stage, tumour de-differentiation, loss of membranous β-Catenin expression, cytoplasmic β-caten in expression and widespread nuclear expression of β- catenin all correlated with short survival following apparently curative resection of the primary tumour.
