Experimental testing and numerical modelling of masonry wall solution with PCM incorporation: A passive construction solution
TL;DR: In this article, the effect of the incorporation of phase change materials (PCMs) into a typical Portuguese clay brick masonry enclosure wall was evaluated, and the experimental results allowed the calibration and validation of the numerical model, enabling to carry out parametric studies with different PCMs quantity analysing consequent temperature damping and time delay.
Journal ArticleDOI
Brick masonry walls with PCM macrocapsules: An experimental approach
Romeu Vicente,Tiago Silva +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of phase change materials (PCM) macrocapsules incorporation into brick masonry walls thermal and inertial behavior is evaluated. And the main results of an experimental testing campaign of a wall element with PCM macroencapsulation are presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Literature review on the use of phase change materials in glazing and shading solutions
TL;DR: In this article, a review of phase change materials (PCM) technologies for translucent and transparent building envelope, such as windows, shutters and other shading devices, is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Thermal performance of a window shutter containing PCM: Numerical validation and experimental analysis
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe a numerical and experimental testing of a thermal energy storage system (TES) that contains phase change material (PCM), and the definitions and assumptions of developed numerical models to assess the performance and to simulate the thermal energy behavior are presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Performance of a window shutter with phase change material under summer Mediterranean climate conditions
TL;DR: In this paper, the results of an experimental campaign of a window shutter containing phase change materials (PCM) during the summer season were presented. And the window shutter prototype was applied in an outside cell test composed by two compartments and oriented to South.
