Journal ArticleDOI
Symmetry-dependent field-free switching of perpendicular magnetization.
Liang Liu,Chenghang Zhou,Xinyu Shu,Changjian Li,Tieyang Zhao,Weinan Lin,Jinyu Deng,Qidong Xie,Shaohai Chen,Jing Zhou,Rui Guo,Han Wang,Jihang Yu,Shu Shi,Ping Yang,Stephen J. Pennycook,Aurelien Manchon,Jingsheng Chen +17 more
TL;DR: An out-of-plane SOT in an HM/FM bilayer of L11-ordered CuPt/CoPt and field-free switching of the perpendicular magnetization of the CoPt layer is observed, demonstrating the intrinsic nature of the 3m torque, which strongly depends on the relative orientation of the current flow and the crystal symmetry.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spin-Orbit Torque-Induced Domain Nucleation for Neuromorphic Computing
Jing Zhou,Tieyang Zhao,Xinyu Shu,Liang Liu,Weinan Lin,Shaohai Chen,Shu Shi,Xiaobing Yan,Xiaogang Liu,Jingsheng Chen +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, a simple bilayer spintronic device for hardware implementation of neuromorphic computing is demonstrated, using the L11 -CuPt/CoPt bilayer as a sigmoidal neuron.
Journal ArticleDOI
Field-free magnetization switching induced by the unconventional spin–orbit torque from WTe2
Qidong Xie,Weinan Lin,Soumya Sarkar,Xinyu Shu,Shaohai Chen,Liang Liu,Tieyang Zhao,Chenghang Zhou,Han Wang,Jing Zhou,Silvija Gradečak,Jingsheng Chen +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the out-of-plane spin polarization in the van der Waals material WTe2 has been confirmed by the shift of the anomalous Hall effect loop.
Journal ArticleDOI
Field-Free Switching of Perpendicular Magnetization Induced by Longitudinal Spin-Orbit-Torque Gradient
Xinyu Shu,Liang Liu,Jing Zhou,Weinan Lin,Qi-lai Xie,Tieyang Zhao,Chenghang Zhou,Shao-Feng Chen,Han Wang,Jianwei Chai,Yishui Ding,Wei Chen,Jingsheng Chen +12 more
TL;DR: In this article , a longitudinal composition gradient was proposed to break the spin-orbit-torque (SOT) symmetry in a heavy-metal bilayer, which is not suitable for practical applications.
Journal ArticleDOI
Current-induced self-switching of perpendicular magnetization in CoPt single layer
Liang Liu,Chenghang Zhou,Tieyang Zhao,Bing-xing Yao,Jing Zhou,Xinyu Shu,Shao-Feng Chen,Shu Shi,Shibo Xi,Dang Lan,Weinan Lin,Qi-lai Xie,Lizhu Ren,Zhaoyang Luo,Chao Sun,Ping Yang,Er-Jia Guo,Zhili Dong,Aurelien Manchon,Jingsheng Chen +19 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors showed that the Co30Pt70 shows the largest out-of-plane effective field efficiency and best switching performance in the absence of external magnetic field.
