Journal ArticleDOI
Three-phase contact line energetics from nanoscale liquid surface topographies
Tilo Pompe,Stephan Herminghaus +1 more
TL;DR: The contact line tension of a three-phase system (solid-liquid-vapor) is determined from the liquid surface topography data obtained with scanning force microscopy, which is consistent with theory.
Journal ArticleDOI
Maleic anhydride copolymers--a versatile platform for molecular biosurface engineering.
Tilo Pompe,Stefan Zschoche,Nicole Herold,Katrin Salchert,Marie-Françoise Gouzy,Claudia Sperling,Carsten Werner +6 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that these options permit control of the physicochemical constraints for bioactive molecules immobilized at interfaces to influence important performance characteristics of biofunctionalized materials for medical devices and molecular diagnostics.
Journal ArticleDOI
Functional immobilization of signaling proteins enables control of stem cell fate
Kristin Alberti,Ryan E. Davey,Kento Onishi,Sophia George,Katrin Salchert,F. Philipp Seib,Martin Bornhäuser,Tilo Pompe,Andras Nagy,Carsten Werner,Carsten Werner,Peter W. Zandstra +11 more
TL;DR: A rapid and simple approach for immobilizing signaling ligands to maleic anhydride copolymer thin-film coatings is reported, enabling stable signaling ligand presentation at interfaces at defined concentrations.
Journal ArticleDOI
The phenotype of cancer cell invasion controlled by fibril diameter and pore size of 3D collagen networks.
Jiranuwat Sapudom,Stefan Rubner,Steve Martin,Tony Kurth,Stefanie Riedel,Claudia Tanja Mierke,Tilo Pompe +6 more
TL;DR: It is shown how pore size and fibril diameter of collagen I networks distinctively regulate cancer cell morphology and invasion, and suggests a correlation of migratory and invasive phenotype of cancer cells in dependence on topological and mechanical features of the length scale of single fibrils and not on coarse-grained network properties.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tailored Poly(2-oxazoline) Polymer Brushes to Control Protein Adsorption and Cell Adhesion
Ning Zhang,Tilo Pompe,Tilo Pompe,Ihsan Amin,Robert Luxenhofer,Carsten Werner,Rainer Jordan,Rainer Jordan +7 more
TL;DR: POx bottle-brush brushes synthesized by SIPGP and consecutive LCROP of 2-oxazolines on 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane-modified silicon substrates prove extremely low protein adsorption and cell adhesion on BBBs with hydrophilic side chains.
