Journal ArticleDOI
The expression of CD8α discriminates distinct T cell subsets in teleost fish
Fumio Takizawa,Johannes M. Dijkstra,Paul Kotterba,Tomáš Korytář,Holger Kock,Bernd Köllner,Beltran Jaureguiberry,Teruyuki Nakanishi,Uwe Fischer +8 more
TL;DR: High ratios of CD8α+ cells in trout thymus, gill and intestine, but relatively low abundance in pronephros, spleen and blood are found using newly established mAbs against rainbow trout CD8 α, indicating a heterogeneous population different from found in non-mucosal tissues.
Journal ArticleDOI
Novel Teleost CD4-Bearing Cell Populations Provide Insights into the Evolutionary Origins and Primordial Roles of CD4+ Lymphocytes and CD4+ Macrophages
Fumio Takizawa,Susana Magadán,David Parra,Zhen Xu,Tomáš Korytář,Pierre Boudinot,J. Oriol Sunyer +6 more
TL;DR: This study fills in an important gap in the knowledge of teleost CD4-bearing leukocytes, thus revealing critical insights into the evolutionary origins and primordial roles of CD4+ lymphocytes andCD4+ monocytes/macrophages.
Journal ArticleDOI
B cells and their role in the teleost gut.
TL;DR: Recent literature regarding the role of B-lymphocytes and immunoglobulins in gut immunity in teleost fish are summarized, with specific focus on Immunoglobulin isotypes and the microorganisms, pathogenic and non-pathogenic that interact with the immune system.
Journal ArticleDOI
The teleostean liver as an immunological organ: Intrahepatic immune cells (IHICs) in healthy and benzo[a]pyrene challenged rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss).
Anja-Maria Möller,Anja-Maria Möller,Tomáš Korytář,Bernd Köllner,Heike Schmidt-Posthaus,Helmut Segner +5 more
TL;DR: The results provide clear evidence for the existence of an IHIC population in trout liver, which constitutes 15-29% of the non-hepatocytes in the liver, and with a cellular composition different to that of the blood leukocyte population.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transcriptome Profiling Reveals Insight into Distinct Immune Responses to Aeromonas salmonicida in Gill of Two Rainbow Trout Strains
Alexander Rebl,Tomáš Korytář,Judith M. Köbis,Marieke Verleih,Aleksei Krasnov,Joanna Jaros,Carsten Kühn,Bernd Köllner,Tom Goldammer +8 more
TL;DR: Dynamic but moderate changes in the expression of a broad range of immune-relevant features implying the gill’s involvement in pathogen defense strategies are uncovered.
