Observation of strong low-lying E1 strength in the two-neutron halo nucleus 11Li.
Takashi Nakamura,A. M. Vinodkumar,Takashi Sugimoto,Nori Aoi,Hidetada Baba,D. Bazin,Naoki Fukuda,Tomoko Gomi,H. Hasegawa,Nobuaki Imai,Masamichi Ishihara,T. Kobayashi,Yosuke Kondo,Takashi Kubo,M. Miura,T. Motobayashi,Hideaki Otsu,A. Saito,Hiroyoshi Sakurai,Susumu Shimoura,Kenji Watanabe,Y. X. Watanabe,T. Yakushiji,Y. Yanagisawa,K. Yoneda +24 more
TL;DR: An exclusive measurement has been made of the Coulomb dissociation of the two-neutron halo nucleus 11Li at 70 MeV/nucleon at RIKEN, where strong low-energy E1 excitation is observed, which represents the strongest E1 transition ever observed at such low excitation energies.
Journal ArticleDOI
The first excited state of 30Ne studied by proton inelastic scattering in reversed kinematics
Yoshiyuki Yanagisawa,Masahiro Notani,Hiroyoshi Sakurai,M. Kunibu,H. Akiyoshi,N. Aoi,Hidetada Baba,K. Demichi,Naoki Fukuda,H. Hasegawa,Yoshihide Higurashi,Masakazu Ishihara,Naohito Iwasa,H. Iwasaki,Tomoko Gomi,S. Kanno,Meiko Kurokawa,Y. U. Matsuyama,Shin'ichiro Michimasa,T. Minemura,T. Mizoi,Takashi Nakamura,Akito Saito,M. Serata,Susumu Shimoura,Takashi Sugimoto,E. Takeshita,Satoshi Takeuchi,K. Ue,K. Yamada,Kenichiro Yoneda,T. Motobayashi +31 more
TL;DR: The energy of the first excited state of the very neutron-rich nucleus 30 Ne was determined by proton inelastic scattering as mentioned in this paper, indicating enhancement of deformation as the neutron excess increases in the N = 20 isotones.
Journal ArticleDOI
Large collectivity of 34Mg
Hironori Iwasaki,T. Motobayashi,Hiroyoshi Sakurai,K. Yoneda,Tomoko Gomi,N. Aoi,Naoki Fukuda,Zs. Fülöp,U. Futakami,Z. Gacsi,Yoshihide Higurashi,N. Imai,Naohito Iwasa,Takashi Kubo,M. Kunibu,Meiko Kurokawa,Zhiqiang Liu,Toshiyuki Minemura,Akito Saito,M. Serata,Susumu Shimoura,Satoshi Takeuchi,Y. X. Watanabe,K. Yamada,Y. Yanagisawa,Masamichi Ishihara +25 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the B(E2;0+g.s.→2+1) value for the previously proposed 2+1 state in 34Mg was determined for the first time to be 631(126) e 2 fm 4.
Journal ArticleDOI
Deformation of 34Mg studied via in-beam γ-ray spectroscopy using radioactive-ion projectile fragmentation
K. Yoneda,Hiroyoshi Sakurai,Tomoko Gomi,T. Motobayashi,N. Aoi,Naoki Fukuda,U. Futakami,Z. Gacsi,Yoshihide Higurashi,N. Imai,Naohito Iwasa,Hironori Iwasaki,T. Kubo,M. Kunibu,Meiko Kurokawa,Zhiqiang Liu,T. Minemura,Akito Saito,M. Serata,Susumu Shimoura,Satoshi Takeuchi,Y. X. Watanabe,K. Yamada,Y. Yanagisawa,K. Yogo,Atsumasa Yoshida,M. Ishihara +26 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the location of low-lying states in the very neutron-rich isotope 34 Mg has been determined for the first time using a two-step fragmentation reaction, and two strong γ -lines were observed at 660(10) and 1460(20) kV, which are tentatively attributed to the 2 + 1 → 0 + g.s. and 4 + 1→2 + 1 transitions in 34 mg, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI
New neutron-rich isotopes, 34Ne, 37Na and 43Si, produced by fragmentation of a 64 A MeV 48Ca beam
Masahiro Notani,Hiroyoshi Sakurai,N. Aoi,Yoshiyuki Yanagisawa,Akito Saito,N. Imai,Tomoko Gomi,M. Miura,Shin'ichiro Michimasa,H. Iwasaki,Naoki Fukuda,M. Ishihara,T. Kubo,Shigeru Kubono,H. Kumagai,S. M. Lukyanov,T. Motobayashi,T. K. Onishi,Yu. E. Penionzhkevich,Susumu Shimoura,Toshiharu Teranishi,K. Ue,V Ugryumov,A. Yoshida +23 more
TL;DR: In this article, an experiment to search for very neutron-rich nuclei has been performed at RIKEN, using projectile fragmentation of an intense 64-A-MeV 48Ca beam and the fragment separator RIPS.
