TL;DR: The major octopus fisheries around the globe, providing an overview of species targeted, ecological and biological features of exploited stocks, catches and the key aspects of management are described in this article.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sperm displacement behavior of the cuttlefish Sepia esculenta (Cephalopoda: Sepiidae)
TL;DR: Although the number of removed sperm masses increased with the time spent on removal of sperm, male cuttlefish may shorten the duration of sperm removal to avoid the risk of mating interruption, which would likely influence the degree of partial sperm removal in S. esculenta.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sperm removal, ejaculation and their behavioural interaction in male cuttlefish in response to female mating history
TL;DR: This interaction suggests both strategic investment allocation and constraints on each mating investment as possible results of mating interruption by other males and spermatophore depletion, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI
Alternative Male Mating Behaviors Dependent on Relative Body Size in Captive Oval Squid Sepioteuthis lessoniana (Cephalopoda, Loliginidae)
TL;DR: The results suggest that MP mating is used by larger, paired males during the female egg-laying period, and that MU mating and sneaking are alternative tactics adopted by smaller, subordinate males.
Journal Article
Reproductive Behavior of the Japanese Spineless Cuttlefish Sepiella japonica
TL;DR: The reproductive behavior of the Japanese spineless cuttlefish Sepiella japonica was observed in a tank and suggested one female produced nearly 200 fertilized eggs without additional mating, implying that the female have potential capacity to store and use active sperm properly.
