Metabolic Effects of Krill Oil are Essentially Similar to Those of Fish Oil but at Lower Dose of EPA and DHA, in Healthy Volunteers
Stine Marie Ulven,Bente Kirkhus,Amandine Lamglait,Samar Basu,Elisabeth Elind,Trond Haider,Kjetil Berge,Hogne Vik,Jan I. Pedersen +8 more
TL;DR: Krill oil and fish oil represent comparable dietary sources of n-3 PUFAs, even if the EPA + DHA dose in the krill oil was 62.8% of that in the fish oil, and no statistically significant differences in changes in any of the serum lipids or the markers of oxidative stress and inflammation between the study groups were observed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prevention of covid-19 and other acute respiratory infections with cod liver oil supplementation, a low dose vitamin D supplement: quadruple blinded, randomised placebo controlled trial
Sonja Hjellegjerde Brunvoll,Anders Benteson Nygaard,Merete Ellingjord-Dale,Petter Holland,Mette Istre,Karl Trygve Kalleberg,Camilla Lund Søraas,Kirsten B. Holven,Stine Marie Ulven,Anette Hjartåker,Trond Haider,Fridtjof Lund-Johansen,John Arne Dahl,Haakon E. Meyer,Arne Søraas +14 more
TL;DR: Supplementation with cod liver oil in the winter did not reduce the incidence of SARS-CoV-2 infection, serious covid-19, or other acute respiratory infections compared with placebo and was not associated with a reduced risk of any of the co-primary endpoints.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of similar intakes of marine n-3 fatty acids from enriched food products and fish oil on cardiovascular risk markers in healthy human subjects.
Bente Kirkhus,Amandine Lamglait,Karl-Erik Eilertsen,Eva Falch,Trond Haider,Hogne Vik,Nils Hoem,Tor-Arne Hagve,Samar Basu,Elisabeth Olsen,Ingebjørg Seljeflot,Lena Nyberg,Elisabeth Elind,Stine Marie Ulven +13 more
TL;DR: In conclusion, enriched fish pâté and fruit juice represent suitable delivery systems for n-3 LCPUFA, and although the dose given is known to reduce the risk of CVD, no significant changes were observed on cardiovascular risk markers in this healthy population.
