Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of a six-week intraduodenal supplementation with quercetin on liver lipid metabolism and oxidative stress in peripartal dairy cows.
A. K. Stoldt,M. Mielenz,Gerd Nürnberg,H. Sauerwein,Tuba Esatbeyoglu,Anika E. Wagner,Gerald Rimbach,Alexander Starke,Siegfried Wolffram,Cornelia C. Metges +9 more
TL;DR: Liver fat content in dairy cows tended to be reduced by Q supplementation, but potential underlying mechanisms remain unclear because analyzed parameters related to hepatic lipid metabolism and antioxidative defense were not altered by Q supplements.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bioactive Compounds, Antioxidant, Anti-Inflammatory, Anti-Cancer, and Toxicity Assessment of Tribulus terrestris—In Vitro and In Vivo Studies
Malik Waseem Abbas,Mazhar Hussain,Saeed Akhtar,Tariq Ismail,Muhammad Afzal Qamar,Zahid Shafiq,Tuba Esatbeyoglu +6 more
TL;DR: It can be stated that T. terrestris is a potential bearing herb and findings of current study further verify the claims made in ancient medicinal systems, however, after investigation of each identified compound, it must be considered for drug discovery.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bioactive Phenolic Compounds from Lingonberry (Vaccinium vitis-idaea L.): Extraction, Chemical Characterization, Fractionation and Cellular Antioxidant Activity
Tina Kostka,Johanna Josefine Ostberg-Potthoff,Joachim Stärke,Claudia Guigas,Seiichi Matsuo,Valentin Mirčeski,Leon Stojanov,Sanja Kostadinović Veličkovska,Peter Winterhalter,Tuba Esatbeyoglu +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the most effective extract, only consisting of anthocyanins, copigments or a mixture of both, obtained from a lingonberry juice concentrate was identified.
Journal ArticleDOI
Promising bioactive properties of quercetin for potential food applications and health benefits: A review
Irtiqa Shabir,Vinay Kumar Pandey,Rafeeya Shams,Aamir Hussain Dar,Kshirod K. Dash,Shafat Ahmad Khan,Iqra Bashir,G. Jeevarathinam,Alexandru Rusu,Tuba Esatbeyoglu,Ravi Pandiselvam +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper , a concise explanation of quercetin's action mechanism and potential health applications is given, along with a detailed analysis of the potential applications of the compound in terms of anti-cancer properties.
Journal ArticleDOI
Circulating Haptoglobin and Metabolic Syndrome in Renal Transplant Recipients
Isidor Minović,Michele F Eisenga,Ineke J. Riphagen,Else van den Berg,Jenny E. Kootstra-Ros,Anne-Roos S. Frenay,Harry van Goor,Gerald Rimbach,Tuba Esatbeyoglu,Andrew P. Levy,Carlo A. J. M. Gaillard,Johanna M. Geleijnse,Manfred Eggersdorfer,Gerjan Navis,Ido P. Kema,Stephan J. L. Bakker +15 more
TL;DR: Plasma Hp is independently associated with MetS in RTR, and high and low Hp are associated with increased mortality risk, independent of MetS.
