Journal ArticleDOI
Halogen bonding and pi...pi stacking control reactivity in the solid state.
Tullio Caronna,Rosalba Liantonio,Thomas A. Logothetis,Pierangelo Metrangolo,Tullio Pilati,Giuseppe Resnati +5 more
TL;DR: The halogen bonding and the pi...pi stacking interactions induce the noncovalent self-assembly of modules into photoreactive supramolecular architecture.
Journal ArticleDOI
Intersystem crossing processes in nonplanar aromatic heterocyclic molecules.
Karin Schmidt,Sergio Brovelli,Veaceslav Coropceanu,David Beljonne,Jérôme Cornil,Cristina Bazzini,Tullio Caronna,Riccardo Tubino,Francesco Meinardi,Zhigang Shuai,Jean-Luc Brédas +10 more
TL;DR: The magnitude of spin-orbit coupling is directly correlated with the degree of deviation from planarity, and the trends from the calculated photophysical quantities, namely, radiative fluorescence and phosphorescence decay rates and intersystem crossing rates, are fully consistent with experiment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Oxidative degradation of dyes by ultraviolet radiation in the presence of hydrogen peroxide
TL;DR: In this paper, the decolorization and mineralization of some azo and anthraquinone dyes by photoactivated hydrogen peroxide has been studied, and a simple kinetic model, describing adequately the process, has been proposed; pH does not influence significantly the process in the range going from 3 to 9.
Journal ArticleDOI
Selectivity of hydroxyl radical in the partial oxidation of aromatic compounds in heterogeneous photocatalysis
Giovanni Palmisano,M. Addamo,Vincenzo Augugliaro,Tullio Caronna,Agatino Di Paola,Elisa Isabel Garcia Lopez,Vittorio Loddo,Giuseppe Marcì,Leonardo Palmisano,Mario Schiavello +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the photocatalytic oxidation of different benzene derivatives has been investigated in order to understand how the substituent group affects the selectivity to hydroxylated compounds.
Journal ArticleDOI
Helical Sense-Responsive and Substituent-Sensitive Features in Vibrational and Electronic Circular Dichroism, in Circularly Polarized Luminescence, and in Raman Spectra of Some Simple Optically Active Hexahelicenes
Sergio Abbate,Giovanna Longhi,Ettore Castiglioni,Stefano Superchi,Laura Pisani,Francesca Fontana,Franck Torricelli,Tullio Caronna,Claudio Villani,Rocchina Sabia,Matteo Tommasini,Andrea Lucotti,Daniele Mendola,Andrea Mele,David A. Lightner +14 more
TL;DR: In this article, four different hexahelicenes, 5-aza-hexahelicene (1), 6-hexahellahelicen (2), 2-methyl-hexahexiheliceni (3), and 2-bromo-hexboxehexihemide (4), were prepared and their enantiomers, which are stable at r.t.
