Inactivation of the Fto gene protects from obesity
Julia Fischer,Linda Koch,Linda Koch,Christian Emmerling,Jeanette Vierkotten,Jeanette Vierkotten,Thomas Peters,Thomas Peters,Jens C. Brüning,Jens C. Brüning,Ulrich Rüther +10 more
TL;DR: These experiments provide the first direct demonstration that Fto is functionally involved in energy homeostasis by the control of energy expenditure, and leads to postnatal growth retardation and a significant reduction in adipose tissue and lean body mass.
Journal ArticleDOI
Easy identification of cDNA clones.
Ulrich Rüther,Benno Müller-Hill +1 more
TL;DR: A set of six cloning vectors, pUR 278, 288, 289, 290, 291, 292 is presented and a simple immunoenzymatic assay can be used to identify clones in such a cDNA library.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sequence of the lacZ gene of Escherichia coli.
TL;DR: The nucleotide sequence of the lacZ gene coding for beta‐galactosidase in Escherichia coli has been determined and the protein sequence was shown to be essentially correct.
Journal ArticleDOI
The ciliary gene RPGRIP1L is mutated in cerebello-oculo-renal syndrome (Joubert syndrome type B) and Meckel syndrome
Marion Delous,Lekbir Baala,Rémi Salomon,Christine Laclef,Christine Laclef,Jeanette Vierkotten,Kálmán Tory,Christelle Golzio,Tiphanie Lacoste,Laurianne Besse,Laurianne Besse,Catherine Ozilou,Imane Moutkine,Nathan E. Hellman,Isabelle Anselme,Isabelle Anselme,Flora Silbermann,Christine Vesque,Christine Vesque,Christoph Gerhardt,Eleanor Rattenberry,Matthias T.F. Wolf,Marie Claire Gubler,Jelena Martinovic,Férechté Encha-Razavi,Nathalie Boddaert,Marie Gonzales,Marie Alice Macher,Hubert Nivet,Gérard Champion,Jean Pierre Berthélémé,Patrick Niaudet,Fiona McDonald,Friedhelm Hildebrandt,Colin A. Johnson,Michel Vekemans,Corinne Antignac,Ulrich Rüther,Sylvie Schneider-Maunoury,Sylvie Schneider-Maunoury,Tania Attié-Bitach,Sophie Saunier +41 more
TL;DR: Findings show that mutations in RPGRIP1L can cause the multiorgan phenotypic abnormalities found in CORS or MKS, which therefore represent a continuum of the same underlying disorder.
Journal ArticleDOI
The fat mass and obesity associated gene (Fto) regulates activity of the dopaminergic midbrain circuitry
Martin E. Hess,Simon Hess,Kate D. Meyer,Linda A W Verhagen,Linda Koch,Hella S. Brönneke,Marcelo O. Dietrich,Sabine D. Jordan,Yogesh Saletore,Olivier Elemento,Bengt F. Belgardt,Thomas Franz,Tamas L Horvath,Ulrich Rüther,Samie R. Jaffrey,Peter Kloppenburg,Jens C. Brüning +16 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that inactivation of the Fto gene, encoding a nucleic acid demethylase, impairs dopamine receptor type 2 (D2R) and type 3 (D3R) (collectively, 'D2-like receptor')-dependent control of neuronal activity and behavioral responses.
