Journal ArticleDOI
MEDIASTinal staging of non-small cell lung cancer by endobronchial and endoscopic ultrasonography with or without additional surgical mediastinoscopy (MEDIASTrial): study protocol of a multicenter randomised controlled trial
Jelle E. Bousema,Marcel G. W. Dijkgraaf,Nicole E. Papen-Botterhuis,Hermien Schreurs,Jos G. Maessen,Erik H.F.M. van der Heijden,Willem H. Steup,Jerry Braun,Valentin J. J. M. Noyez,Fieke Hoeijmakers,Naomi Beck,Martijn van Dorp,Niels J. M. Claessens,Birgitta I. Hiddinga,Johannes M.A. Daniels,David J. Heineman,Harmen R. Zandbergen,Ad F.T.M. Verhagen,Paul Van Schil,Jouke T. Annema,Frank J.C. van den Broek +20 more
TL;DR: It is hypothesized that omitting mediastinoscopy after negative endosonography in mediastinal staging of NSCLC does not result in an unacceptable percentage of unforeseen N2 disease at surgical resection, and may be associated with lower morbidity and comparable survival.
Journal ArticleDOI
Unforeseen N2 Disease after Negative Endosonography Findings with or without Confirmatory Mediastinoscopy in Resectable Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
Jelle E. Bousema,Martijn van Dorp,Valentin J. J. M. Noyez,Marcel G. W. Dijkgraaf,Jouke T. Annema,Frank J.C. van den Broek +5 more
TL;DR: The rate of unforeseen N2 disease after negative endosonography findings was similar in patients undergoing immediate lung tumor resection to those undergoing confirmatory mediastinoscopy first, at the cost of 6.0% rate of complications by mediastinescopy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Malignant pleural mesothelioma with an EML4-ALK fusion: Expect the unexpected!
Fleur Cordier,Joni Van der Meulen,Nadine Van Roy,Jilke De Wilde,H. van Dijck,Filip Vanhoenacker,Marc Lambrechts,Valentin J. J. M. Noyez,Koen Van de Vijver,Liesbeth Ferdinande,Amélie Dendooven,J. Van Dorpe,David Creytens +12 more
TL;DR: The co-occurrence of ALK gene fusions with the more common genetic alterations in CDKN2A, NF2 and BAP1 has not yet been described in malignant mesothelioma as discussed by the authors .
Journal ArticleDOI
Optimal postoperative pain management after VATS lung resection by thoracic epidural analgesia, continuous paravertebral block or single-shot intercostal nerve block (OPtriAL): study protocol of a three-arm multicentre randomised controlled trial
L. N. Spaans,Mgw Dijkgraaf,P. Meijer,J. Mourisse,R. Arthur Bouwman,Ad F.T.M. Verhagen,F. J. C. van den Broek,Denis Susa,Eino B. van Duyn,Jan-Willem Potters,Erik R. de Loos,Herman Rijna,Anne Loes van den Boom,Marieke H Kuut,N.M. Hanneman,Jelle E. Bousema,R. V. D. van den Broek,Valentin J. J. M. Noyez,Jeroen Hendriks,Chris Dickhoff +19 more
TL;DR: In this article , a three-arm clinical trial comparing continuous paravertebral block (PVB), ICNB and TEA in a 1:1:1 ratio for pain (non-inferiority) and QoR (superiority).
