Journal ArticleDOI

Mediastinoscopy vs Endosonography for Mediastinal Nodal Staging of Lung Cancer: A Randomized Trial

TL;DR: Among patients with (suspected) NSCLC, a staging strategy combining endosonography and surgical staging compared with surgical staging alone resulted in greater sensitivity for mediastinal nodal metastases and fewer unnecessary thoracotomies.
Journal ArticleDOI

An electronic nose in the discrimination of patients with non-small cell lung cancer and COPD.

TL;DR: VOC-patterns of exhaled breath discriminates patients with lung cancer from COPD patients as well as healthy controls, and the electronic nose may qualify as a non-invasive diagnostic tool for lung cancer in the future.
Journal ArticleDOI

Endobronchial Ultrasound With Transbronchial Needle Aspiration for Restaging the Mediastinum in Lung Cancer

TL;DR: EBUS-TBNA is a sensitive, specific, accurate, and minimally invasive test for mediastinal restaging of patients with NSCLC, but because of the low negative predictive value, tumor-negative findings should be confirmed by surgical staging before thoracotomy.
