Regression Diagnostics: Identifying Influential Data and Sources of Collinearity

The 2008 crash has left all the established economic doctrines - equilibrium models, real business cycles, disequilibria models - in disarray. Part of the problem is due to Smith’s "veil of ignorance": individuals unknowingly pursue society’s interest and, as a result, have no clue as to the macroeconomic effects of their actions: witness the Keynes and Leontief multipliers, the concept of value added, fiat money, Engel’s law and technical progress, to name but a few of the macrofoundations of microeconomics. A good viewpoint to take bearings anew lies in comparing the post-Great Depression institutions with those emerging from Thatcher and Reagan’s economic policies: deregulation, exogenous vs. endoge- nous money, shadow banking vs. Volcker’s Rule. Very simply, the banks, whose lending determined deposits after Roosevelt, and were a public service became private enterprises whose deposits determine lending. These underlay the great moderation preceding 2006, and the subsequent crash.

The Economic Institutions of Capitalism

This handbook looks to provide academics and students with a comprehensive and holistic understanding of the phenomenon of innovation. Innovation spans a number of fields within the social sciences and humanities: Management, Economics, Geography, Sociology, Politics, Psychology, and History. Consequently, the rapidly increasing body of literature on innovation is characterized by a multitude of perspectives based on, or cutting across, existing disciplines and specializations. The Oxford Handbook of Innovation

What makes organizations so similar? We contend that the engine of rationalization and bureaucratization has moved from the competitive marketplace to the state and the professions. Once a set of organizations emerges as a field, a paradox arises: rational actors make their organizations increasingly similar as they try to change them. We describe three isomorphic processes-coercive, mimetic, and normative—leading to this outcome. We then specify hypotheses about the impact of resource centralization and dependency, goal ambiguity and technical uncertainty, and professionalization and structuration on isomorphic change. Finally, we suggest implications for theories of organizations and social change.

The iron cage revisited: Institutional isomorphism and collective rationality in organizational fields (Chinese Translation)

PurposeBatik is a craft in the creative industry, which is the identity of the Indonesian nation. One of the main batik tourism areas in Indonesia is Trusmi, and women entrepreneurs have a strategic role in developing the batik craft industry in the region. The batik industry faced various challenges during coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Therefore, this study aims to explore the impact and identify strategic options during the COVID-19 period on batik businesses owned by women entrepreneurs in the Trusmi area.Design/methodology/approachThis study uses a qualitative case study method by interviewing ten batik women entrepreneurs in the Trusmi area.FindingsThis study elaborates findings about the impact of COVID-19, the technology role, collaboration, the government role and strategic options.Originality/valueThis study provides academic and practical implications, which are discussed further about the role of the craft industry in dealing with economic and social turmoil.

This chapter addresses the issue of ethics in sport entrepreneurship, which is an important part of the global business environment Ethics in sport has potential to understand the social problems caused by political and environmental circumstances The emerging sport entrepreneurship literature has limited discussion about the role of ethics in the creation of sport ventures, which is surprising as it is an important component of the business creation process There are policy and practice issues concerning sport ethics that influence its role in entrepreneurial sport ventures Most of the current research about sport ethics tends to focus on organizational and player behaviors with little linkage to entrepreneurship The general interest in sport has sparked concerns for ethical issues raised by changing technology and societal expectations Despite the entrepreneurship abundant in sport, to date little or hardly any attention has been placed on its influence on sport ethics This chapter seeks to address the missing gap in the literature about entrepreneurship in sport ethics Therefore, the role of sport ethics to entrepreneurship is examined as a valuable contribution to the literature
