Christine Pergent-Martini,Vanina Leoni,Vanina Pasqualini,Giandomenico Ardizzone,Elena Balestri,R. Bedini,A. Belluscio,T. Belsher,Joseph A. Borg,Charles-François Boudouresque,S. Shili,Agostino Tomasello,Branko Velimirov +38 more
TL;DR: This paper synthesises the existing methods applied to monitor P. oceanica meadows, identifies the most suitable techniques and suggests future research directions, and shows the interest of a practical guide that describes, in a standardized way, the most useful techniques enabling P. Oceanica meadow to be used as an environmental descriptor.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of experimental reduction of light and nutrient enrichments (N and P) on seagrasses: a review
TL;DR: This study shows the close link between the physiology and morphology of seagrass, with regard to environmental modifications, and highlights their ability to provide information on environmental conditions by means of their responses.
Journal ArticleDOI
Morphological responses of Posidonia oceanica to experimental nutrient enrichment of the canopy water
TL;DR: Data suggest that the epiphytic index increase is a specific but not systematic response, and that the reduced leaf length is more systematic in summer but not specific to nutrient enrichment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spatiotemporal dynamics of submerged macrophyte status and watershed exploitation in a Mediterranean coastal lagoon: Understanding critical factors in ecosystem degradation and restoration
Vanina Pasqualini,Valerie Derolez,Marie Garrido,Valérie Orsoni,Yoann Baldi,Sabrina Etourneau,Vanina Leoni,Patrick Rébillout,Thierry Laugier,Philippe Souchu,Nathalie Malet +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used historical data for a two hundred-year period to assess changes in human activities on the watershed of the Biguglia lagoon and investigated the trajectory of the community response.
Journal ArticleDOI
Use of SPOT 5 and IKONOS imagery for mapping biocenoses in a Tunisian Coastal Lagoon (Mediterranean Sea)
Alexandre Vela,Vanina Pasqualini,Vanina Leoni,Aslam Djelouli,Habib Langar,Gérard Pergent,Christine Pergent-Martini,Lila Ferrat,Mrabet Ridha,H. Djabou +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors provided a precise map of the entire El Bibane lagoon using fused images from SPOT 5 and IKONOS over a test-area, which revealed an extremely wide distribution of seagrass meadows within the lagoon and a large area of mobile sediments more or less parallel to the shore.
