Postgerminative growth and lipid catabolism in oilseeds lacking the glyoxylate cycle
Peter J. Eastmond,Véronique Germain,Peter R. Lange,James H. Bryce,Steven M. Smith,Ian A. Graham +5 more
TL;DR: Results suggest that lipids can be used as a source of carbon for respiration in germinating oilseeds and that products of fatty acid catabolism can pass from the peroxisome to the mitochondrion independently of the glyoxylate cycle.
Journal ArticleDOI
Requirement for 3‐ketoacyl‐CoA thiolase‐2 in peroxisome development, fatty acid β‐oxidation and breakdown of triacylglycerol in lipid bodies of Arabidopsis seedlings
Véronique Germain,Elizabeth L. Rylott,Tony R. Larson,Sarah M. Sherson,Nicole Bechtold,Jean Pierre Carde,James H. Bryce,Ian A. Graham,Steven M. Smith +8 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that while gluconeogenesis from fatty acids is not absolutely required to support Arabidopsis seedling growth, peroxisomal beta-oxidation is essential, which is in turn required for breakdown of TAG in lipid bodies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Changes in transcriptional profiles are associated with early fruit tissue specialization in tomato
Martine Lemaire-Chamley,Johann Petit,Virginie Garcia,Daniel Just,Pierre Baldet,Véronique Germain,Mathilde Fagard,Mariam Mouassite,Catherine Cheniclet,Christophe Rothan +9 more
TL;DR: The data show that the expansion of locular cells is concomitant with the expression of genes controlling water flow, organic acid synthesis, sugar storage, and photosynthesis and suggest that hormones regulate this process.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tomato GDSL1 Is Required for Cutin Deposition in the Fruit Cuticle
Anne-Laure Girard,Fabien Mounet,Martine Lemaire-Chamley,Martine Lemaire-Chamley,Cédric Gaillard,Khalil Elmorjani,Julien Vivancos,Jean-Luc Runavot,Bernard Quemener,Johann Petit,Johann Petit,Véronique Germain,Véronique Germain,Christophe Rothan,Christophe Rothan,Didier Marion,Bénédicte Bakan +16 more
TL;DR: Results suggest that GDSL1 is specifically involved in the extracellular deposition of the cutin polyester in the tomato fruit cuticle.
Journal ArticleDOI
Specific Membrane Lipid Composition Is Important for Plasmodesmata Function in Arabidopsis
Magali S. Grison,Magali S. Grison,Lysiane Brocard,Lysiane Brocard,Laetitia Fouillen,Laetitia Fouillen,William J Nicolas,William J Nicolas,Vera Wewer,Peter Dörmann,Houda Nacir,Houda Nacir,Yoselin Benitez-Alfonso,Stéphane Claverol,Véronique Germain,Véronique Germain,Yohann Boutté,Yohann Boutté,Sébastien Mongrand,Sébastien Mongrand,Emmanuelle Bayer,Emmanuelle Bayer +21 more
TL;DR: This study provides a comprehensive analysis of the lipid constituents of PD and identifies a role for sterols in modulating cell-to-cell connectivity, possibly by establishing and maintaining the positional specificity of callose-modifying glycosylphosphatidylinositol proteins at PD.
