Journal ArticleDOI
Riociguat for Patients With Pulmonary Hypertension Caused by Systolic Left Ventricular Dysfunction A Phase IIb Double-Blind, Randomized, Placebo-Controlled, Dose-Ranging Hemodynamic Study
Diana Bonderman,Stefano Ghio,Stephan B. Felix,Hossein Ardeschir Ghofrani,Evangelos D. Michelakis,Veselin Mitrovic,Ronald J. Oudiz,Francis Boateng,Andrea Viviana Scalise,Lothar Roessig,Marc J. Semigran +10 more
TL;DR: Although the primary end point of the study was not met, riociguat was well tolerated in patients with pulmonary hypertension caused by systolic left ventricular dysfunction and improved cardiac index and pulmonary and systemic vascular resistance.
Journal ArticleDOI
N-Terminal Pro–B-Type Natriuretic Peptide Levels for Dynamic Risk Stratification of Patients With Acute Coronary Syndromes
TL;DR: Neurohumoral activation as evidenced by NT-proBNP appears as a unifying feature that is independent of other biochemical markers (myocardial necrosis, inflammation) and is a powerful and independent determinant of the short-term cardiac risk in patients with acute coronary syndromes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Left atrial structure and function in atrial fibrillation: ENGAGE AF-TIMI 48
Deepak K. Gupta,Amil M. Shah,Robert P. Giugliano,Christian T. Ruff,Elliott M. Antman,Laura T. Grip,Naveen Deenadayalu,Elaine B. Hoffman,Indravadan Patel,Minggao Shi,Michele Mercuri,Veselin Mitrovic,Eugene Braunwald,Scott D. Solomon +13 more
TL;DR: In a contemporary AF population, LA structure and function were increasingly abnormal with a greater electrical burden of AF and higher stroke risk estimated by the CHADS2 score, suggesting that the assessment of LA function may add important incremental information in the evaluation of AF patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Haemodynamic and clinical effects of ularitide in decompensated heart failure
Veselin Mitrovic,Petar M. Seferović,Dejan Simeunovic,Arsen D. Ristić,M Miric,Valentin S. Moiseyev,Zhanna Kobalava,Klaus Nitsche,Wolf-Georg Forssmann,Hartmut Lüss,Markus Meyer +10 more
TL;DR: Ularitide lowered cardiac filling pressures and improved dyspnoea without apparent early deleterious effects on renal function in DHF patients, suggesting that ularitides may play a role in the management of DHF.
Journal ArticleDOI
N-terminal B-type natriuretic peptide predicts extent of coronary artery disease and ischemia in patients with stable angina pectoris
Marc Weber,Thorsten Dill,Roman Arnold,Matthias Rau,Okan Ekinci,Klaus D. Müller,Alexander Berkovitsch,Veselin Mitrovic,Christian W. Hamm +8 more
TL;DR: NT-proBNP is elevated in patients with stable angina pectoris and has a close correlation to disease severity, and combined with exercise testing, the test accuracy for predicting severe CAD can be improved.
