Journal ArticleDOI
Alternative minimally-invasive surgical explantation techniques for failed transcatheter mitral valve repair devices
Serdar Akansel,Markus Kofler,K Van Praet,Simon H. Sündermann,Axel Unbehaun,Stephan Jacobs,Volkmar Falk,Jörg Kempfert +7 more
Book ChapterDOI
Coronary artery bypass graft surgery for the prevention of sudden cardiac death
TL;DR: Ventricular arrhythmias are responsible for most cases of sudden cardiac death (SCD) and account for at least 50% of the mortality of patients with ischemic heart failure, so CABG should be effective in reducing recurrent episodes of SCD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Percutaneous transseptal transcatheter mitral valve-in-valve implantation under endovascular cerebral protection.
K Van Praet,Gaik Nersesian,Marian Kukucka,E. Heil,Markus Kofler,Volkmar Falk,J. Kempfert,Christoph Klein,Axel Unbehaun +8 more
TL;DR: Detailed insight is provided into the step-by-step guidance of a percutaneous transseptal transcatheter mitral valve-in-valve implant under cerebral protection in a patient with a deteriorated surgically implanted mitral bioprosthesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transcatheter Restoration of the Left Ventricular Outlet in a Patient With an Implanted Apicoaortic Conduit
Axel Unbehaun,Ulrich Gerckens,Christoph Klein,Alexander Berger,Mazen Alhaloush,Jan Knierim,Alexander Mladenow,Natalia Solowjowa,Volkmar Falk,Joerg Kempfert +9 more
TL;DR: Transcatheter management of severe aortic regurgitation in a middle-aged patient with a porcelain aorta who underwent implantation of an apicoaortic valved conduit is described.
Journal ArticleDOI
The value of diastolic speckle-tracking parameters in predicting outcome after surgical ventricular restoration
O. Nemchyna,Natalia Solowjowa,Micheal Dandel,Yuriy Hrytsyna,Julia Stein,Jan Knierim,Felix Schoenrath,Volkmar Falk,Christoph Knosalla +8 more
TL;DR: These parameters showed prognostic value for patients underwent SVR and could be implemented for preoperative evaluation of these patients and might be used for the evaluation of LV diastolic function.
