Exposure to beta-carbolines norharman and harman.

TL;DR: The literature data on levels of norharman and harman in fried meat and fish, meat extracts, alcoholic drinks, and coffee brews is summarized to indicate that inhalative exposure leads to a rapid increase in plasma levels and high bioavailability of norHarman and Harman and there are indications that sublingual absorption may increase dietary uptake of beta-carbolines.

Investigation of the genotoxic effects of 2-amino-9H-pyrido[2,3-b]indole in different organs of rodents and in human derived cells.

TL;DR: Comparison of the results with data from earlier experiments indicate that the genotoxic potency of AalphaC is equal to that of other HAs, which are contained in human foods in much smaller amounts, which can be taken as an indication that the human health risk caused by exposure to A alphaC is higher than that ofother HAs that are formed during the cooking of meat and fish.

TL;DR: 32P-postlabelling analysis of DNA from several organs of rats dosed orally with MeA alphaC showed that in vivo N2-(2'-deoxyguanosin-8-yl)-MeAalphaC also was the major adduct formed.
