Journal ArticleDOI
Removal of 2-MIB and geosmin using UV/persulfate: Contributions of hydroxyl and sulfate radicals
TL;DR: The results showed that both 2-MIB and geosmin could be degraded effectively using this process and were likely to be the main radical scavengers in natural waters when using UV/persulfate process to control 2- MIB and Geosmin.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effectiveness and mechanism of potassium ferrate(VI) preoxidation for algae removal by coagulation
TL;DR: It was observed that ferrate preoxidation caused algae agglomerate formation before the addition of coagulant, and the subsequent application of alum resulted in further coagulation, which increased remarkably when the water was pretreated with ferrate.
Journal ArticleDOI
Water eutrophication in China and the combating strategies
Wei Liu,Rongliang Qiu +1 more
TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors reviewed the current eutrophication status of China's lakes, including Dianchi Lake, Taihu Lake, and Chaohu Lake, based on an explanation of its causes, policies and technologies currently in practice in addition to research towards combating the eUTrophication.
Journal ArticleDOI
THM, HAA and CNCl formation from UV irradiation and chlor(am)ination of selected organic waters.
TL;DR: In most cases, irradiation with the medium-pressure UV lamp gave similar or slightly larger changes in DBP yields, compared with the corresponding trials using the low-pressure lamp, although some of these changes are not practically significant.
Journal ArticleDOI
Formation of disinfection by-products after pre-oxidation with chlorine dioxide or ferrate
TL;DR: Reduced potential for the formation of NDMA was observed in most of the samples after both ClO2 and Fe(VI) pre-oxidation.
