Journal ArticleDOI

Investigation of rheological and chemical properties asphalt binder rejuvenated with waste vegetable oil

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of waste vegetable oil (W-oil) on rejuvenating aged asphalt binder were investigated in terms of rheological and chemical properties using Rotational Viscometer (RV) and Dynamic Shear Rheometer (DSR).
Journal ArticleDOI

Moisture effect on nanostructure and adhesion energy of asphalt on aggregate surface: A molecular dynamics study

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the effect of water intrusion on the nanostructure of virgin and aged asphalt binder on aggregate surface and compared the adhesion energy and debonding energy of asphalt-aggregate interface.
Journal ArticleDOI

Molecular dynamics study of rejuvenator effect on RAP binder: Diffusion behavior and molecular structure

TL;DR: In this paper, a two-layered model was developed to study the inter-diffusion process between rejuvenator and asphalt binder, and it was found that the diffusion process can be described by Fickian equation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Prediction of dynamic modulus of asphalt mixture using micromechanical method with radial distribution functions

TL;DR: In this paper, a modified Ju-Chen (J-C) method based on two types of radial distribution assumptions for inclusions in the matrix, namely the uniform distribution and Percus-Yevick (P-Y) distribution, was proposed and the elastic-viscoelastic correspondence principle was used to predict the effective dynamic modulus of asphalt mixture at different frequencies.
Journal ArticleDOI

Molecular dynamics simulation of diffusion coefficients between different types of rejuvenator and aged asphalt binder

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors developed molecular dynamics (MD) models to investigate the diffusion behavior of rejuvenator with aged binder, four types of rejuvenators, straight saturate, cyclic saturate and naphthene.
