Journal ArticleDOI
Smaller prefrontal and premotor volumes in boys with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder
TL;DR: Findings suggest that ADHD is associated with decreased frontal lobe gray and white matter volumes, suggesting that the clinical picture of ADHD encompasses dysfunctions attributable to anomalous development of both premotor and prefrontal cortices.
Journal ArticleDOI
Reliability and validity of MRI measurement of the amygdala and hippocampus in children with fragile X syndrome
Wendy R. Kates,Wendy R. Kates,Michael T. Abrams,Michael T. Abrams,Walter E. Kaufmann,Steven N. Breiter,Allan L. Reiss +6 more
TL;DR: It is found that hippocampal volumes in children with fragile X syndrome were significantly increased when either rotational method was used, suggesting that either method can be validly applied to neuronanatomic studies of pediatric populations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cognitive Decline Preceding the Onset of Psychosis in Patients With 22q11.2 Deletion Syndrome
Jacob A. S. Vorstman,Elemi J. Breetvelt,Sasja N. Duijff,Stephan Eliez,Maude Schneider,Maria Jalbrzikowski,Maria Jalbrzikowski,Marco Armando,Stefano Vicari,Vandana Shashi,Stephen R. Hooper,Eva W.C. Antshel,Kevin M. Antshel,Tony J. Simon,Opal Y. Ousley,Ann Swillen,Raquel E. Gur,Carrie E. Bearden,Carrie E. Bearden,René S. Kahn,Anne S. Bassett +38 more
TL;DR: In 22q11DS, early cognitive decline is a robust indicator of the risk of developing a psychotic illness, and these findings mirror those observed in idiopathic schizophrenia.
Journal ArticleDOI
MRI parcellation of the frontal lobe in boys with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or Tourette syndrome
Wendy R. Kates,Melissa Frederikse,Stewart H. Mostofsky,Stewart H. Mostofsky,Bradley S. Folley,Karen L. Cooper,Patricia Mazur-Hopkins,Ora Kofman,Harvey S. Singer,Martha B. Denckla,Godfrey D. Pearlson,Walter E. Kaufmann +11 more
TL;DR: An investigation of frontal lobe morphometry in ADHD and TS based on a reliable frontal subparcellation protocol that combines contiguous sulcal/gyral boundaries to derive frontal lobe modules based on prior functional studies indicates that the reliable parcellation method presented has the potential of increasing the authors' understanding of the role of the frontal lobe in developmental and psychiatric disorders.
Journal ArticleDOI
Autistic Spectrum Disorders in Velo-cardio Facial Syndrome (22q11.2 Deletion)
Kevin M. Antshel,Alka Aneja,Leslie Strunge,Jena Peebles,Wanda Fremont,Kimberly Stallone,Nuria AbdulSabur,Anne Marie Higgins,Robert J. Shprintzen,Wendy R. Kates,Wendy R. Kates +10 more
TL;DR: The extent to which the phenotype of children comorbid for velocardiofacial syndrome (VCFS) and autism spectrum disorders (ASD) differs from that of VCFS-only has not been studied.
