Journal ArticleDOI

Membrane-associated phosphatidylglycerophosphate synthetase from Escherichia coli: purification by substrate affinity chromatography on cytidine 5'-diphospho-1,2-diacyl-sn-glycerol sepharose.

TL;DR: Kinetic analysis of the enzymatic reaction indicated an ordered sequential Bi-Bi reaction with the liponucleotide forming a dead-end complex at high concentration, which inhibited both the forward and reverse reactions.
Journal ArticleDOI

A retrospective: use of Escherichia coli as a vehicle to study phospholipid synthesis and function.

TL;DR: The findings that have led to the development of E. coli as an excellent model system to study mechanisms underlying the synthesis and function of phospholipids that are widely applicable to other prokaryotic and eukaryotic systems are traced.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Escherichia coli pgpB Gene Encodes for a Diacylglycerol Pyrophosphate Phosphatase Activity

TL;DR: Genetic and biochemical evidence was provided that supported the conclusion that the product of pgpB gene of Escherichia coli exhibited diacylglycerol pyrophosphate (DGPP) phosphatase activity.

Lipids in the Assembly of Membrane Proteins and Organization of Protein Supercomplexes

TL;DR: In this paper, the role of phosphatidylethanolamine and cardiolipin in normal assembly and organization of the membrane proteins, multimeric protein complexes, and higher order supercomplexes is discussed.
