Journal ArticleDOI

Band gap fluorescence from individual single-walled carbon nanotubes.

TL;DR: At pH less than 5, the absorption and emission spectra of individual nanotubes show evidence of band gap–selective protonation of the side walls of the tube, which is readily reversed by treatment with base or ultraviolet light.
Journal ArticleDOI

Helical ice-sheets inside carbon nanotubes in the physiological condition

TL;DR: In this article, molecular dynamics simulations were performed on nanotube segments of various diameters submerged in water, and it was shown that water molecules can exist inside the nanotubes segments, and that the water molecules inside the tubes tend to organize themselves into a highly hydrogen-bonded network, i.e., solid-like wrapped-around ice sheets.
Journal ArticleDOI

Molecular dynamics analysis of a buckyball-antibody complex.

TL;DR: The results demonstrate that an ordinary protein binding site, such as that of an antibody, can readily bind to a carbon nanoparticle with high affinity and specificity through recognition modes that are common in protein–ligand recognition.
