Journal ArticleDOI

A pneumonia outbreak associated with a new coronavirus of probable bat origin

TL;DR: Identification and characterization of a new coronavirus (2019-nCoV), which caused an epidemic of acute respiratory syndrome in humans in Wuhan, China, and it is shown that this virus belongs to the species of SARSr-CoV, indicates that the virus is related to a bat coronav virus.
Journal ArticleDOI

Discovery of a rich gene pool of bat SARS-related coronaviruses provides new insights into the origin of SARS coronavirus

TL;DR: It is hypothesized that the direct progenitor of SARS-CoV may have originated after sequential recombination events between the precursors of these SARSr-CoVs, and highlights the necessity of preparedness for future emergence of Sars-like diseases.
Journal ArticleDOI

Prolonged shedding of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 in patients with COVID-19.

TL;DR: Monitoring the clinical characteristics and virological features of 38 patients with COVID-19 (long-term carriers) who recovered from the acute disease, but still shed viral RNA for over 3 months implies that patients should be monitored after discharge to control future outbreaks.
