An evaluation of the water utilization and grain production of irrigated and rain-fed croplands in China.
TL;DR: China has achieved sufficient food supply without increasing water use, and the national MWPb was estimated to be 0.673 kg/m(3), revealing a higher increase in crop yield on irrigated land compared to rain-fed land.
Journal ArticleDOI
Radiation interception and utilization by wheat/maize strip intercropping systems
Zikui Wang,Xining Zhao,Xining Zhao,Pute Wu,Pute Wu,Jianqiang He,Xiaoli Chen,Ying Gao,Ying Gao,Xinchun Cao +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the changes in radiation interception and radiation-use efficiency of spring wheat and spring maize after the initiation of intercropping, and found that increased radiation capture was the primary factor responsible for the high productivity of the wheat/maize inter-cropping systems.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hybrid analytical framework for regional agricultural water resource utilization and efficiency evaluation
TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors constructed a hybrid framework for agricultural water utilization and efficiency evaluation, combining the water footprint and agricultural water use paradigms and enveloping water resource movement and its impact on the environment in the agricultural production process.
Journal ArticleDOI
A comprehensive analysis of blue water scarcity from the production, consumption, and water transfer perspectives
TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper developed an approach to calculate the blue water scarcity (BWS) and integrated the production, consumption, and water transfer perspectives into a single framework, and the average BWS in the Hetao irrigation district was 0.491 during the 2001-2010 year period, which was much larger than the threshold of 0.30.
Journal ArticleDOI
Agricultural water rights trading and virtual water export compensation coupling model: A case study of an irrigation district in China
Yubao Wang,Donghua Liu,Xinchun Cao,Xinchun Cao,Zhi Yang,Jianfeng Song,Dianyu Chen,Shikun Sun +7 more
TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper analyzed the relationship between agricultural water rights trading and virtual water export compensation, then a bi-level programming model was established with multiple objectives, and the model was applied in Hetao irrigation district by using enumeration method.
