Journal ArticleDOI
Changes in metabolism and microbiota after 24-week risperidone treatment in drug naïve, normal weight patients with first episode schizophrenia.
Xiuxia Yuan,Peifen Zhang,Yaping Wang,Yafei Liu,Xue Li,Bachoo Upshant Kumar,Gangrui Hei,Luxian Lv,Xu-Feng Huang,Xiaoduo Fan,Xueqin Song +10 more
TL;DR: Drug naïve, first episode schizophrenia patients show abnormalities in microbiota composition after 24-week risperidone treatment, which is likely associated with antipsychotic medication induced metabolic changes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Activation of Th17 cells in drug naïve, first episode schizophrenia.
Minli Ding,Xueqin Song,Jingyuan Zhao,Jinsong Gao,Xue Li,Ge Yang,Xiujuan Wang,Amy Harrington,Xiaoduo Fan,Luxian Lv +9 more
TL;DR: Patients with normal weight, drug naïve, first episode schizophrenia present activation of Th17 cells, which might be associated with therapeutic response after risperidone treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Schizophrenia patients and their healthy siblings share disruption of white matter integrity in the left prefrontal cortex and the hippocampus but not the anterior cingulate cortex
Yihui Hao,Qiang Yan,Haihong Liu,Lin Xu,Lin Xu,Zhimin Xue,Xueqin Song,Yoshio Kaneko,Tianzi Jiang,Zhening Liu,Baoci Shan +10 more
TL;DR: Brain white matter abnormalities investigated by voxel-based analysis of white matter FA data acquired from diffusion tensor imaging showed that schizophrenia patients and their healthy siblings share disruption of WM integrity in the left prefrontal cortex and the hippocampus that may be related to higher risk of healthy siblings to develop schizophrenia.
Journal ArticleDOI
Changes in pro-inflammatory cytokines and body weight during 6-month risperidone treatment in drug naïve, first-episode schizophrenia.
Xueqin Song,Xueqin Song,Xueqin Song,Xiaoduo Fan,Xue Li,Wei Zhang,Jinsong Gao,Jingping Zhao,Amy Harrington,Douglas M. Ziedonis,Luxian Lv +10 more
TL;DR: Risperidone treatment is associated with changes in serum pro-inflammatory cytokines levels and weight, and there is an initial anti-inflammatory effect that reduces with treatment, potentially due to its weight gain side effect.
Journal ArticleDOI
Elevated levels of adiponectin and other cytokines in drug naïve, first episode schizophrenia patients with normal weight
Xueqin Song,Xueqin Song,Xueqin Song,Xiaoduo Fan,Xinwen Song,Jianjiang Zhang,Wei Zhang,Xue Li,Jinsong Gao,Amy Harrington,Douglas M. Ziedonis,Luxian Lv +11 more
TL;DR: Drug naïve, first episode schizophrenia patients with normal weight seem to present an up-regulated inflammatory status as reflected by elevated levels of IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α, and APN may play a unique pro-inflammatory role in this patient population.
