Journal ArticleDOI

DHA inhibits proliferation and induces ferroptosis of leukemia cells through autophagy dependent degradation of ferritin.

TL;DR: Experimental evidences on the detailed mechanism of DHA‐induced ferroptosis are provided and reveal that DHA might represent a promising therapeutic agent to preferentially target AML cells.
Journal ArticleDOI

Overcoming the compensatory elevation of NRF2 renders hepatocellular carcinoma cells more vulnerable to disulfiram/copper-induced ferroptosis

TL;DR: In this paper, a series of cellular, molecular, and pharmacological experimental approaches were utilized to address the unrecognized characteristics of disulfiram (DSF), pursuing the goal of repurposing DSF for cancer therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sorafenib induces mitochondrial dysfunction and exhibits synergistic effect with cysteine depletion by promoting HCC cells ferroptosis.

TL;DR: It is found that depletion of cysteine acts synergistically with sorafenib and renders HCC cells vulnerable to ferroptosis, presenting the potential value of new therapeutic combinations for advanced HCC.
Journal ArticleDOI

Inhibition of CISD2 promotes ferroptosis through ferritinophagy-mediated ferritin turnover and regulation of p62–Keap1–NRF2 pathway

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors investigated the role of CDGSH iron sulfur domain 2 (CISD2) in regulating tumorigenesis and showed that CISD2 depletion significantly accelerated the Erastin-induced ferroptotic cell death with excess lipid peroxidation, GSH exhaustion, and iron accumulation.
