Journal ArticleDOI
Angular Momentum of Twisted Radiation from an Electron in Spiral Motion.
Masahiro Katoh,Masahiro Katoh,Masaki Fujimoto,Masaki Fujimoto,Hideki Kawaguchi,Kimichika Tsuchiya,K. Ohmi,Tatsuo Kaneyasu,Yoshitaka Taira,Masahito Hosaka,A. Mochihashi,Y. Takashima +11 more
TL;DR: It is theoretically demonstrate for the first time that a single free electron in circular or spiral motion emits twisted photons carrying well-defined orbital angular momentum along the axis of the electron circulation, in adding to spin angular momentum.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tunable narrowband terahertz emission from mastered laser–electron beam interaction
Serge Bielawski,Serge Bielawski,Clement Evain,Toru Hara,Masahito Hosaka,Masahiro Katoh,Masahiro Katoh,Shin-ichi Kimura,Shin-ichi Kimura,A. Mochihashi,A. Mochihashi,M. Shimada,Christophe Szwaj,Toshiharu Takahashi,Y. Takashima +14 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a tunable source of coherent narrowband terahertz radiation is realized by using a laser to modulate the emission characteristics of a relativistic electron beam.
Journal ArticleDOI
Highly polarized electrons from GaAs–GaAsP and InGaAs–AlGaAs strained-layer superlattice photocathodes
Takeo Nishitani,Tsutomu Nakanishi,Masahiro Yamamoto,S. Okumi,F. Furuta,M. Miyamoto,Makoto Kuwahara,Naoto Yamamoto,K. Naniwa,Osamu Watanabe,Yoshikazu Takeda,Hisashi Kobayakawa,Y. Takashima,Hiromichi Horinaka,Tetsuya Matsuyama,K. Togawa,Takashi Saka,M. Tawada,T. Omori,Yoshimasa Kurihara,Masakazu Yoshioka,K. Kato,Toshio Baba +22 more
TL;DR: In this article, GaAs-GaAsP and InGaAs-AlGaAs strained-layer superlattice photocathodes are presented as emission sources for highly polarized electron beams.
Journal ArticleDOI
Helical Phase Structure of Radiation from an Electron in Circular Motion.
Masahiro Katoh,Masahiro Katoh,Masaki Fujimoto,Masaki Fujimoto,N. S. Mirian,Taro Konomi,Taro Konomi,Yoshitaka Taira,Tatsuo Kaneyasu,Masahito Hosaka,Naoki Yamamoto,A. Mochihashi,Y. Takashima,Kenta Kuroda,A. Miyamoto,Koji Miyamoto,S. Sasaki +16 more
TL;DR: The results indicate that photons carrying orbital angular momentum should be created naturally by cyclotron/synchrotron radiations or Compton scatterings in various situations in cosmic space.
Journal ArticleDOI
Microbunching instability in relativistic electron bunches: direct observations of the microstructures using ultrafast YBCO detectors.
Eléonore Roussel,Clement Evain,C. Szwaj,Serge Bielawski,J. Raasch,P. Thoma,Alexander Scheuring,Matthias Hofherr,Konstantin Ilin,Stefan Wünsch,Michael Siegel,Masahito Hosaka,Naoto Yamamoto,Y. Takashima,Heishun Zen,Taro Konomi,Masahiro Adachi,Shin-ichi Kimura,Masahiro Katoh +18 more
TL;DR: The direct, shot-by-shot, time-resolved recording of the shapes (including envelope and carrier) of the pulses of coherent synchrotron radiation that are emitted, and that are a "signature" of the electron bunch microstructure are reported.
