Journal ArticleDOI
Real-time estimation and prediction of mortality caused by COVID-19 with patient information based algorithm.
Lishi Wang,Jing Li,Sumin Guo,Ning Xie,Lan Yao,Yanhong Cao,Sara W. Day,Scott C. Howard,J. Carolyn Graff,Tianshu Gu,Jiafu Ji,Weikuan Gu,Weikuan Gu,Dianjun Sun +13 more
TL;DR: Using preliminary data from China, the PIBA method was successfully used to estimate the death rate and predict the death numbers of the Korean population and the results showed that the real death numbers had fallen into the predicted ranges.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Data set for Patient Information Based Algorithm to Predict Mortality Cause by COVID-19.
Jing Li,Lishi Wang,Lishi Wang,Sumin Guo,Ning Xie,Lan Yao,Lan Yao,Yanhong Cao,Sara W. Day,Scott C. Howard,J. Carolyn Graff,Tianshu Gu,Jiafu Ji,Weikuan Gu,Weikuan Gu,Dianjun Sun +15 more
TL;DR: A new methodology, Patient Information Based Algorithm (PIBA) has been adapted to process the data and used to estimate the death rate of COVID-19 in real-time, and the trendline of these death rate curves meet the curve of current ratio between accumulative death cases and confirmed cases at some points in the near future.
Journal ArticleDOI
Variations of COVID-19 mortality are affected by economic disparities across countries
Lan Yao,Lotfi Aleya,Scott C. Howard,Yanhong Cao,Cong-Yi Wang,Sara W. Day,J. Carolyn Graff,Dianjun Sun,Weikuan Gu +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors performed a cross-sectional study on data of turning points for cases and deaths for the first three waves of COVID-19 in countries with more than 5000 cumulative cases, as reported by Worldometers and WHO Coronavirus Dashboard.
Journal ArticleDOI
COVID-19 vaccine: Call for employees in international transportation industries and international travelers as the first priority in global distribution
Zhuo Yu,Gang Wang,Emanuel Goldman,Barbara Zangerl,Ning Xie,Yanhong Cao,Jingyu Chen,Sara W. Day,Scott C. Howard,Marcello Maida,Kunal Ray,Monica M. Jablonski,Jiafu Ji,Arnold E. Postlethwaite,Arnold E. Postlethwaite,Weikuan Gu,Weikuan Gu,Dianjun Sun,Lotfi Aleya +18 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors predicted three possible scenarios for vaccine distributions and urge an international united action on the worldwide equitable access, and called for a distribution plan that includes the employees in international transportation industries and international travelers to halt the disease transmission and promote the recovery of the global economy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mortality in Four Waves of COVID-19 Is Differently Associated with Healthcare Capacities Affected by Economic Disparities
Lan Yao,J. Carolyn Graff,Lotfi Aleya,Jiamin Ma,Yanhong Cao,Wei Wei,Shuqiu Sun,Congyi Wang,Yan Jiao,Weikuan Gu,Gang Wang,Dianjun Sun +11 more
TL;DR: Conclusions from the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic do not apply to the following waves, indicating that the clinical outcomes in developing countries become worse along with the expansion of the pandemic.
