Specific PCR-based assays for the identification of Fasciola species: Their development, evaluation and potential usefulness in prevalence surveys

TL;DR: The developed PCR assays could provide useful tools for the detection, identification and epidemiological investigation of Fasciola infection in humans, other mammals and snails.
Journal ArticleDOI

Estimation of test characteristics of real-time PCR and bacterial culture for diagnosis of subclinical intramammary infections with Streptococcus agalactiae in Danish dairy cattle in 2012 using latent class analysis.

TL;DR: It is indicated that PCR Ct-value cut-offs should be chosen according to the underlying latent infection definition of interest, as the lower cut-off, the more comparable becomes Se of PCR and Se of BC.
Journal ArticleDOI

Bayesian estimation of test characteristics of real-time PCR, bacteriological culture and California mastitis test for diagnosis of intramammary infections with Staphylococcus aureus in dairy cattle at routine milk recordings

TL;DR: PCR has a higher performance than the conventional diagnostic tests (BC and CMT) suggesting its usefulness as a routine test for accurate diagnosis of S. aureus IMI under field conditions at routine milk recordings in Denmark.
Journal ArticleDOI

Communications of Staphylococcus aureus and non-aureus Staphylococcus species from bovine intramammary infections and teat apex colonization.

TL;DR: Investigation of the distribution patterns of NAS species from milk and teat skin in dairy herds with automatic milking systems and if the isolated NAS influences the expression of S. aureus virulence factors controlled by the accessory gene regulator (agr) quorum sensing system found patterns varied according to the involved NAS species, habitat type, and herd factors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Clinical and haematological study on water buffaloes (Bubalus bubalis) and crossbred cattle naturally infected with Theileria annulata in Sharkia province, Egypt

TL;DR: It was concluded from this study that T. annulata infection is associated with impairment and alteration of blood parameters in both cattle and water buffaloes and might cause irreversible ocular changes that could lead to complete blindness.
