Proteolytic processing and membrane association of putative nonstructural proteins of hepatitis C virus

TL;DR: By using a plasmid-based transient protein expression system in cultured cells and an in vitro transcription/translation system, the proteolytic processing of the putative nonstructural protein region of the precursor polyprotein from a Japanese type of hepatitis C virus is analyzed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Phosphorylation of hepatitis C virus-encoded nonstructural protein NS5A.

TL;DR: It is reported that serine residues 2197, 2201, and/or 2204 are important for hyper-phosphorylation in p58 and important sites for basal phosphorylation were identified in the region from residues 2200 to 2250 and in the C-terminal region of the NS5A product.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hepatitis C virus-encoded nonstructural protein NS4A has versatile functions in viral protein processing.

TL;DR: A transient protein expression system in COS-1 cells was used to study the role of hepatitis C virus-encoded NS4A protein on HCV nonstructural polyprotein processing andNS4A was found to be indispensable for cleavage at the 4B/5A site but not essential for cleaving at the 5A/5B site in NS delta 4A.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fractionation of N2O isotopomers during production by denitrifier

TL;DR: In this article, the authors reported the first precise measurement of 15 N-site preference in N 2 O produced by two species of denitrifying bacteria, Pseudomonas fluorescens (ATCC 13525) and Paracoccus denitrimificans(ATCC 17741), incubated in a batch mode with a liquid medium that contains KNO 3 as unique nitrogen supply under acetylene/helium (10% v/v) atmosphere at 27°C.
Journal ArticleDOI

Production of Two Phosphoproteins from the NS5A Region of the Hepatitis C Viral Genome

TL;DR: Two proteins produced from the nonstructural region 5A (NS5A), which has the potential to produce a 49 kDa protein, are shown to be phosphorylated at the serine residues and the hyper-phosphorylation of p58 was shown to depend on the presence of NS4A, another hepatitis C virus protein.
