Planning and Learning with Stochastic Action Sets

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors formalized and investigated reinforcement learning with stochastic action sets (SAS-MDPs) and showed that optimal policies and value functions in this model have a structure that admits a compact representation.
Book ChapterDOI

Scheduling Subset Tests: One-Time, Continuous, and How They Relate

TL;DR: The modeling considered both SUM e and MAX e objectives, which correspond to average or worst-case cover times over elements (weighted by priority), and both one-time testing, where the goal is to detect if a fault is currently present, and continuous testing, performed in the background in order to detect presence of failures soon after they occur.

The Role of A-priori Information in Networks of Rational Agents

TL;DR: It is proved that when agents have no a-priori knowledge of $n$, i.e., the support for $\sigma$ is infinite, equilibrium is impossible for the Knowledge Sharing problem and bounds are found on the necessary interval of $[\alpha,\beta]$ that contains the support of $sigma$, for which the authors have an equilibrium.

Sublinear Graph Augmentation for Fast Query Implementation

TL;DR: This work introduces the problem of augmenting graphs with sublinear memory in order to speed up replies to queries and shows that if a linear amount of preprocessing is allowed, there is a randomized algorithm that uses \(O\left( \frac{m}{\alpha }\right) \) probes and \(\tilde{O}(\alpha )\) memory.

On Lotteries with Unique Winners

TL;DR: Lotteries with the unique maximum property and the unique winner property are considered and tight lower bounds are proven on the domain size of such lotteries.
