Journal ArticleDOI
Enantioselective organo-cascade catalysis.
TL;DR: These new cascade catalysis protocols allow the invention of enantioselective transformations that were previously unknown, including the asymmetric catalytic addition of the elements of HF across a trisubstituted olefin.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of diurnal variation of gut microbes and high-fat feeding on host circadian clock function and metabolism.
Vanessa Leone,Sean M. Gibbons,Sean M. Gibbons,Kristina Martinez,Alan L. Hutchison,Edmond Y. Huang,Candace M. Cham,Joseph F. Pierre,Aaron F. Heneghan,Anuradha Nadimpalli,Nathaniel Hubert,Elizabeth Zale,Yunwei Wang,Yong Huang,Betty Theriault,Aaron R. Dinner,Mark W. Musch,Kenneth A. Kudsk,Brian J. Prendergast,Jack A. Gilbert,Jack A. Gilbert,Eugene B. Chang +21 more
TL;DR: The ability of microbially derived metabolites to regulate or modify central and hepatic circadian rhythm and host metabolic function, the latter following intake of a Westernized diet is underscored.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic variants associated with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis susceptibility and mortality: a genome-wide association study
Imre Noth,Yingze Zhang,Shwu Fan Ma,Carlos Flores,Mathew Barber,Yong Huang,Steven M. Broderick,Michael S. Wade,Pirro G. Hysi,Joseph Scuirba,Thomas J. Richards,Brenda Juan-Guardela,Rekha Vij,MeiLan K. Han,Fernando J. Martinez,Karl Kossen,Scott D. Seiwert,Jason D. Christie,Dan L. Nicolae,Naftali Kaminski,Joe G.N. Garcia +20 more
TL;DR: A three-stage genome-wide association study to identify additional common variants associated with susceptibility and ultimately mortality in Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and novel variants in TOLLIP and SPPL2C are associated with IPF susceptibility.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hydrogen bonding: single enantiomers from a chiral-alcohol catalyst.
TL;DR: It is shown that a simple chiral alcohol uses hydrogen bonding to catalyse an important family of cycloaddition reactions of a diene with various aldehydes, which is highly enantioselective, generating only one of the mirror-image forms of each dihydropyran product.
Journal ArticleDOI
Intestinal epithelial vitamin D receptor signaling inhibits experimental colitis
Weicheng Liu,Yunzi Chen,Yunzi Chen,Maya Aharoni Golan,Maria Laura Annunziata,Jie Du,Urszula Dougherty,Juan Kong,Juan Kong,Mark W. Musch,Yong Huang,Joel Pekow,Changqing Zheng,Marc Bissonnette,Stephen B. Hanauer,Yan Chun Li,Yan Chun Li +16 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that gut epithelial VDR signaling inhibits colitis by protecting the mucosal epithelial barrier, and this anticolitic activity is independent of nonepithelial immune VDR actions.
