Journal ArticleDOI

16S ribosomal DNA sequence divergence of segmented filamentous bacteria with special reference to inter-species and within-species variation of host animals

TL;DR: In this paper, the 16S rDNA sequences of segmented filamentous bacteria (SFB) derived from crab-eating monkey and Fischer 344 (F344) rat, in addition to of that from BALB/c mice, were determined.
Journal ArticleDOI

Rationale for Using of Bifidobacterium Probiotic Strains-Fermented Milk Against Colitis Based on Animal Experiments and Clinical Trials.

TL;DR: This review focused on the rationale of using Bifidobacterium strains-fermented milk as an adjunct for the prevention of recurrence or exacerbation of colitis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Intestinal Bifidobacterium association in germ-free T cell receptor transgenic mice down-regulates dietary antigen-specific immune responses of the small intestine but enhances those of the large intestine.

TL;DR: Investigation of the effect of the association with Bifidobacterium pseudocatenulatum JCM 7041 on dietary ovalbumin (OVA)-specific immune responses using germ-free OVA-specific T cell receptor transgenic mice suggests that intestinal associationwith Bp might down-regulate excessive immune responses to dietary antigens of the small intestine but enhance those of the large intestine.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparison of Bifidobacterium breve strain Yakult transcriptomes in germ-free mice with those in fecal cultures.

TL;DR: The up-regulation of genes involved in sugar liberalization and uptake suggests that BbrY could possibly maintain energy homeostasis inside the mouse intestine, which contains low quantities of readily fermentable sugars.
