Journal ArticleDOI

α-Mangostin Regulates Hepatic Steatosis and Obesity through SirT1-AMPK and PPARγ Pathways in High-Fat Diet-Induced Obese Mice.

TL;DR: An α- MG supplement reduced the body weight gain and epidymal and retroperitoneal fat mass accumulation and up-regulated hepatic AMPK, SirT1, and PPARγ levels compared with the high-fat diet states, suggesting that α-MG regulates hepatic steatosis and obesity through the SirT 1-AMPK and PParγ pathways in high-Fat diet-induced obese mice.
Journal ArticleDOI

Changes in secondary metabolites of green tea during fermentation by Aspergillus oryzae and its effect on antioxidant potential

TL;DR: In this paper, principal component analysis (PCA) and orthogonal projection to latent structures discriminate analysis (OPLS-DA) of green tea and Aspergillus oryzae -fermented green tea (FGT) were performed using Liquid Chromatography-Electrospray Ionization-Ion Trap-Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-ESI-IT-MS/MS).
Journal ArticleDOI

In Vivo Screening of Traditional Medicinal Plants for Neuroprotective Activity against Aβ42 Cytotoxicity by Using Drosophila Models of Alzheimer's Disease.

TL;DR: A rapid in vivo screening system using Drosophila AD models and neuroprotective activities of medicinal plants that have been used in traditional Chinese medicine suggest that both P. multiflorum and S. commixta have therapeutic potential for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, such as AD.
Journal ArticleDOI

Absorption, tissue distribution, tissue metabolism and safety of α-mangostin in mangosteen extract using mouse models.

TL;DR: The pharmacokinetics as well as tissue distribution, in vitro metabolism, plasma protein binding and safety evaluation were conducted in mice to design the efficacy and safety investigation of α-mangostin or mangosteen extract in mice with disease models or combination therapies to extrapolate into the clinical levels.
Journal ArticleDOI

In vivo therapeutic effect of combination treatment with metformin and Scutellaria baicalensis on maintaining bile acid homeostasis

TL;DR: A synergetic effect of metformin and SB on lowering cholesterol level by excretion of bile acid through feces is observed, and it is found that this accompanied activation of FXR, CYP7A1 and LDLR genes and repression of HMGCR in the liver.
