The inhomogeneous structure of water at ambient conditions
Congcong Huang,Kjartan Thor Wikfeldt,Takashi Tokushima,Dennis Nordlund,Yoshihisa Harada,Uwe Bergmann,Marc Niebuhr,Thomas M. Weiss,Yuka Horikawa,Mikael Leetmaa,Mathias P. Ljungberg,Osamu Takahashi,Annika Lenz,Lars Ojamäe,Alexander P. Lyubartsev,Shik Shin,Lars G. M. Pettersson,Anders Nilsson +17 more
TL;DR: The present results provide experimental evidence that the extreme differences anticipated in the hydrogen-bonding environment in the deeply supercooled regime surprisingly remain in bulk water even at conditions ranging from ambient up to close to the boiling point.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Δ-nucleus spin-orbit interaction in π-nucleus scattering
Yuka Horikawa,M. Thies,F. Lenz +2 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the role of the Δ-nucleus spin-orbit interaction in π-Nucleus scattering is studied within the isobar-hole formalism, and the systematics of the phenomenological δ-nucus optical potential are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
High resolution X-ray emission spectroscopy of water and its assignment based on two structural motifs
Takashi Tokushima,Yoshihisa Harada,Yuka Horikawa,Osamu Takahashi,Yasunori Senba,Haruhiko Ohashi,Lars G. M. Pettersson,Anders Nilsson,Anders Nilsson,Shik Shin +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the split peak in the lone-pair orbital region has been interpreted in terms of either two different structural motifs, tetrahedral and distorted, or as due to core-hole-induced dissociative dynamics.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ultrahigh resolution soft x-ray emission spectrometer at BL07LSU in SPring-8
Yoshihisa Harada,Masaki Kobayashi,Hideharu Niwa,Yasunori Senba,Haruhiko Ohashi,Takashi Tokushima,Yuka Horikawa,Shik Shin,Masaharu Oshima +8 more
TL;DR: An extremely high resolution flat field type slit less soft x-ray emission spectrometer has been designed and constructed for the long undulator beamline BL07LSU in SPring-8 and demonstrated experimentally that E/ΔE = 10 050 and 8046 for N 1s and Mn 2p edges, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI
Selective Probing of the OH or OD Stretch Vibration in Liquid Water Using Resonant Inelastic Soft-X-Ray Scattering
Yoshihisa Harada,Takashi Tokushima,Yuka Horikawa,Osamu Takahashi,Hideharu Niwa,Masaki Kobayashi,Masaharu Oshima,Yasunori Senba,Haruhiko Ohashi,Kjartan Thor Wikfeldt,Anders Nilsson,Anders Nilsson,Lars G. M. Pettersson,Shik Shin +13 more
TL;DR: High-resolution O 1s resonant inelastic x-ray scattering spectra of liquid H 2O, D2O, and HDO, obtained by excitation near the preedge resonance show well-separated multiple vibrational structures corresponding to the internal OH stretch vibration in the ground state of water, indicating that water molecules with a highly weakened or broken donating hydrogen bond are correlated with the pre edge structure in the x-rays absorption spectrum.
